The White Sox made it four college pitchers in four picks. This time it was right-handed pitcher Thomas Royse from Louisville at pick 114. The Sox had this pick for not signing Bryan Morgado in the third round a year ago.
Royse, the Friday starter for the Cardinals, has a 90-93 fastball with good sink. His change up is developing and he has good control. However, he has had issues maintaining his velocity.
The 21 year-old was 9-1 with a 2.85 ERA this year with 99 strikeouts and 26 walks in 104.1 innings. At 6’5″, 210, Royse has a big, projectable frame.
