Star of the day: Jeffrey Wendelken has never started before this season but the results through three games are encouraging. After two solid but unspectacular starts, he dazzled a very strong Wilmington Royals lineup tonight with six strikeouts over 6.1 innings and only allowing a run on four hits. Wendelken now has a tidy 2.60 ERA with a respectable 12/2 K/BB rate over his first 17.1 innings.
Who is Hot: Courtney Hawkins went 2-4 tonight and his slash line is a robust .333/.370/.643. Recently acquired veteran OF Gorkys Hernandez went 1-3 with a walk.
Who is Not: Andre Rienzo struggled tonight, giving up four runs, six hits, and three walks over four innings pitched. The Winston-Salem Dash offense has mustered two runs over their last four ballgames so to say their bats have gone cold would be an understatement. Tim Anderson went 0-4 with three strikeouts and his average has dipped to .244. Keon Barnum has struck out in 8 of his last 11 at-bats.
