Star of the Day: Tim Anderson
The second-year shortstop showed off at the plate today as he went 3-5, with a home run, two runs and three runs batted in. The big day brings the 2013 first rounder’s batting average up to .281. While his on-base percentage isn’t where he would want it to be at .309, his ten extra base hits (6 2B, 3 3B, HR) give him an inspiring .824 from a premium position.
Next in Line
Tommy Hanson, the former Braves and Angels pitcher starting pitcher, made his Charlotte debut. After 3 solid innings (3 IP, 0 R, 2 BB, K) a rough fourth inning made for a less than encouraging start (4 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, K, HR). Hanson’s progress will continue to be noted as he figures to be one of the next starters in line if an extra arm were to be needed for Chicago.
