Stars of the Day: Micah Johnson & Tim Anderson
Micah Johnson went 3-5 with a double and a home run in Birmingham’s defeat. The strong day adds on to what has been another great start of the season for the former Indiana Hoosier. Tim Anderson was the lone bright spot in Winston-Salem’s loss. Anderson went 2-4 with a triple and a run on a day when Winston-Salem only had two hits. Anderson also added in two stolen bases.
Cooling on the contact rates
Courtney Hawkins is 2-19 in his last five contests piling up seven strikeouts during the span. Trayce Thompson is 1-13 in his last three games striking out seven times in that time period. Thompson’s strike out rate had been very encouraging but this past string of games proves how volatile these rates can be in small sample sizes.
