Stars of the Day: Star of the Day is going to be shared by the two guys in the middle of the Barons lineup who went a combined 5-5 tonight. Trayce Thompson hit his 2nd homer of the season and drove in two runs and walked. Rangel Ravelo went 3-3 with two doubles and a walk. Ravelo has to be the hottest hitter in the minors, over his last ten games he is hitting a ridiculous .536/.690/1.000 with two homers, seven doubles, eleven walks, and only three strikeouts.
Who is Hot: The Knights offense was shut down by top Twins prospect Alex Meyer but Carlos Sanchez went 1-2 and drew a walk. Frank Francisco seems ready to join the White Sox bullpen, he struck out the side in his one inning of work. Micah Johnson went 1-3 with two walks tonight and has been on a tear himself, hitting .351/.467/.486 over his past ten games. Jason Coats went 4-5 with a double, a homer, and drove in five runs for Winston-Salem.
Who is Not: Tim Anderson went 0-5, struck out three times, and committed his 11th error. Keon Barnum went 0-5, struck out twice, and committed his 5th error. It seems to be boom or bust for the raw prospects in A ball. Tyler Saladino has cooled after his hot start, he went 0-4 tonight. Jefferson Olacio has had back to back tough appearances after a sparkling start. His ERA has ballooned to 3.95 after only giving up one earned run over his first 10.2 innings.
