6/30 recap: Double-headers and ninth inning heroics galore

Chicago White Sox affiliatetes went 5-4 on Monday as both the Charlotte Knights and Birmingham Barons had double headers, which they both split.

A pair of relievers in Espinosa and and Rodriguez led the DSL White Sox to victory by fanning a combined 10 batters over 8 frames while only allowing a single run after starter Jaider Rocha allowed 5 earned runs. First baseman Carlos Gonzalez went 1-5 with a walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th.

Mason Robbins also is having a good start to his professional life by hitting .294 so far for Great Falls.  Mike Blanke is reportedly hitting upper 90’s with his fastball as he transitions from catching to pitching.

The AZL White Sox lost a slugfest to the AZL Indians on Monday. Top prospects Spencer Adams and Micker Adolfo had as different a day as possible. While Adams shined in his three innings of work, Adolfo earned himself a silver sombrero.
Who’s Hot: Over his last 10 games Matt Davidson has seemingly turned a corner. The once highly touted third baseman finally got his season average above the Mendoza Line and in his last 10 games is hitting .353 with 4 HR, 7 RBI, 7 BB and 9 Ks. Rangel Ravelo extended his hit streak to 17 games on Monday and is hitting .368 over his last 10 games with his season triple slash line sitting at .309/.401/.450. While the power has yet to appear for the first baseman, his hit tool just keeps on going. Keon Barnum has also seemingly turned a corner by hitting .410 in his last 10 games with 3 HRs, 6 RBIs, 3 BBs and 9 Ks in 39 at bats. The surge has brought his season average to .245.
