It was a strong showing from the top to the bottom of the White Sox affiliates during Monday’s games. The Knights were leading 6-3 when play was suspended, and the Barons, Dash, and Intimidators were all victorious.
Birmingham 7, Tennessee 1
Rangel Ravelo went 2-3 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base to continue his league leading hitting streak to 24 games. Ravelo has been absolutely on fire lately, hitting .417/.477/.611 over his past ten games. Myles Jaye continues to mystify with his hot and cold pitching. Monday he was the good Jaye, pitching a complete game and only allowing one earned run, striking out three and walking none.
Winston-Salem 6, Myrtle Beach 2
Tyler Danish tossed six scoreless innings to lead the Dash to victory. It was easily Danish’s best start in Winston-Salem, he struck out seven batters, only allowed three hits, and walked none. Cleuluis Rondon wasn’t exactly tearing up Low-A offensively, but he was promoted to the Dash thanks to the Tim Anderson injury. The defensive-specialist shortstop homered and tripled in Monday’s game, both his first of the season. Center fielder Jacob May doubled and walked three times to raise his season OBP to .319.
Kannapolis 12, Greensboro 8
Thad Lowry couldn’t find the strike zone, walking six and giving up six runs over 4.2 innings pitched. However Lowry was picked up by his offense as Trey Michalczewski and Danny Hayes combined to go 6-10 to help the Intimidators rack up 12 runs. Michalczewski hit his ninth homer of the season and his third in his past ten games. 2014 draft pick Ryan Leonards was promoted to Kannapolis after a short stint with Great Falls and has held his own nicely. Leonards hit his second homer of the season and walked in the win.
AZL Athletics 4, AZL White Sox 1
The Arizona League White Sox were mostly shut down offensively, but 1B Marc Flores went 2-4. Dominican League product Kelvis Valerio pitched well, going six strong innings, only allowing one earned run and striking out six.
