After seeing some offensive outbursts in the previous days, Wednesday’s action was muted for the White Sox Affiliates. The Knights split a doubleheader, but all the other teams lost. The Barons and the Arizona League Sox had the day off and will be back on the field Thursday.
Scranton 7, Charlotte 2 (Game 1)
Erik Johnson’s horrific season continues, as he gave up seven earned runs and fourteen hits over six innings. His ERA has ballooned up to 6.81 and he has given up 97 hits over 76.2 innings. For perspective sake, in just last season Johnson had a 1.96 ERA and only allowed 100 hits over 142 innings. Offensively, the Knights were mostly quiet, Jordan Danks went 2-3 and Andy Wilkins hit his 16th homer.
Charlotte 5, Scranton 1 (Game 2)
Matt Davidson blasted his 16th home run of the season, his third in his past ten games. Marcus Semien doubled and walked twice and Andy Wilkins knocked out three hits in the Knights victory.
Myrtle Beach 12, Winston-Salem 3
The Dash were pounded by the Pelicans, allowing twenty hits and twelve runs. Jacob May had a stat-stuffing evening, going 2-4 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base. The stolen base was May’s 31st on the season. Keon Barnum and Cleuluis Rondon also went 2-4. Reliever Jefferson Olacio struck out five over a scoreless 2.2 innings of work.
Greensboro 3, Kannapolis 0
The Intimidators were shutout and two-hit by Greensboro pitchers. Trey Michalczewski and Jeremy Dowdy’s singles were the only offense Kannapolis could muster. Jeffrey McKenzie was the tough luck loser, going seven innings and only allowing two earned runs.
Odgen 7, Great Falls 2
The Voyogers were held to four hits and starting pitcher Matt Ball labored through three innings, allowing three earned runs and six hits. Hot hitting 2B Jake Peter went 1-4 which lowered his season average to .424.
