An interesting mix of games in the minors tonight. Micah Johnson had another big game, Jared Mitchell had a monster game believe it or not, Rangel Ravelo’s hitting streak was snapped, Courtney Hawkins returned from the disabled list and Johan Cruz made his U.S. debut.
Syracuse 16, Knights 9
Micah Johnson 3-5, 3B
Josh Phegley 3-5, 2B, K
The Knights gave up 6 runs in the 5th inning and 10 runs in the 8th after Matt Zaleski pitched three scoreless innings in the start. Matt Tuiasosopo homered for the second straight game and third time in the last seven games.
Jackson 6, Barons 2
Jared Mitchell 3-4, 2 HR (#6 and #7)
Rangel Ravelo 0-4
FINAL: #Barons 2 #Generals 6 Rangel Ravelo goes hitless for the first time since June 8th, snapping his @MiLB best 26-game hitting streak.

Carolina 9, Dash 2
Courtney Hawkins 2-4, 2 2B, K
Hawkins had a strong return from the DL. Keon Barnum meanwhile had a forgettable day (0-4, 3 K, 2 errors).
Asheville 11, Intimidators 1
Trey Michalczewski 0-4, 2 K
Brett Austin 1-3, BB, 2 K
A forgettable day for Kanny. Christian Stringer blasted his sixth home run of the season for the team’s only run.
Voyagers 1, Ogden 0
Jake Peter 1-2, BB
Brandon Brennan 5 IP, 2 K, BB, 2 H
Brennan, a fourth rounder in 2012, is returning from Tommy John Surgery. Tonight’s start was a nice rebound performance from his July 5 start when he gave up five runs in 1.1 innings.
Brewers 6, Arizona White Sox 4
Johan Cruz 0-5, K
Antonio Rodriguez 2-4, 2B, K
Johan Cruz, who was the White Sox highest priced July 2 international signing in 2012 at $450,000, made his U.S. debut. It was one to forget, but he’s another name to follow. Rodriguez is becoming a personal favorite thanks to the big power he’s shown so far (.242 ISO) although he has four walks and 17 strikeouts, which is a concern.
