Impressive offensive days from Micah Johnson and Andy Wilkins led the Knights to a win while Angel Sanchez and Tyler Danish had strong starts lower down the ladder. Overall, Sox affiliates went 2-4 on Friday.
Knights 8, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 4
Micah Johnson 3-5, 2 SB (7 & 8)
Andy Wilkins 3-4, 2B, HR #19
Wilkins took the lead in the International League home run race after hitting two yesterday to go with tonight’s bomb. Teammate Matt Davidson is second in the league with 18 HR. Wilkins is hitting .263/.297/.506 overall and .407/.411/.815 so far in July.
Barons 7, Mississippi 1
Angel Sanchez 6 IP, 0 R, 5 K, 0 BB, 4 H
Before tonight’s start Sanchez was 0-9 with an ERA just north of 7 with two Southern League teams. In addition to his strong start Jared Mitchell, Trayce Thompson, Martin Medina and Daniel Wagner had multi-hit games.
Myrtle Beach 10, Dash 1
Tyler Danish 6 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 6 K, 0 BB, 6 H
The Dash managed just four hits and Winston-Salem’s bullpen fell apart after Danish exited. Jefferson Olacio and Brad Goldberg gave up a combined seven runs in two innings.
Lakewood 5, Intimidators 4
Homers for Adam Engel, Christian Stringer and Jacob Morris spurred on the offensive effort, but all three were solo shots. Jordan Guerrero (4 IP, 4 R, 4 K, BB, 8 H) had an OK start, but nothing spectacular. He has had a promising season overall so far (46.2 IP, 3.47 ERA, 50 K, 18 BB, 50 H).
Ogden 10, Voyagers 8
Ryan Jones 4-4, 2 2B
Chevy Clarke and Zach Fisher had two hits and a home run each and first baseman Ryan Jones had a big day. Zach Thompson (4.1 IP, 6 R, K, 3 BB, 8 H) got hit around pretty hard and it was probably his worst start in five pro outings.
Diamondbacks 5, Arizona White Sox 3
Eddy Alvarez 3-4, 2B, BB, K
Victor Done (5 IP, 3 R, 5 K, 2 BB, 4 H) had a decent start, more or less matching his season so far (21.2 IP, 5.40 ERA, 26 K, 13 BB, 19 H).
