The Charlotte rehab clinic is open for business as Avisail Garcia, Matt Lindstrom and Zach Putnam all got in their work. Overall it wasn’t a great day for Sox pitching prospects, with a couple exceptions.
Charlotte 10, Gwinnett 1
The Knights were given a huge boost from the heart of their order on Tuesday night, one that included the rehabbing Avisail Garcia who went 3-5 with a home run and an RBI. From the normal list of players, Jordan Danks went 3-5 with a homer and two RBIs and Josh Phegley went 3-4 with two doubles, two RBIs, and a walk. Andy Wilkins continued being hot by getting two hits and a walk while Matt Davidson‘s unfortunate season saw him once again go hitless. Matt Lindstrom and Zach Putnam posted the exact same line in relief for their rehab assignments with one inning pitched, no hits, no walks, no runs, and a strike out.
Potomac 6, Winston-Salem 2
The Dash were able to rack up eight hits, including one from a new call up, but weren’t able to string them together into runs. Jacob May had a fine day going 1-3 with two walks, Courtney Hawkins went 1-4 with a double, walk, and three strikeouts, Jake Peter took his hit parade from Great Falls to Winston-Salem and went 1-4, and Keenyn Walker had a surprisingly good game by going 3-4 with a double and the teams lone RBI. J.B. Wendelken followed up a gem from last time with a less than spectacular showing in 4.2 innings, giving up four runs while only striking out three.
Hickory 6, Kannapolis 3
The Intimidators had a similar night to the Dash, being unable to string hits together. Adam Engel went 2-6, Christian Stringer went 3-4 with an RBI and walk, while Zach Fisher got promoted to A ball and went 2-5 with an RBI. Andre Wheeler pitched pretty well, going 5 innings while only allowing two hits and striking out five. Jose Brito pitched one third of an inning and gave up three runs on three hits.
Orem 9, Great Falls 4
Great Falls was doomed by errors in this game, with three unearned runs given to the Owlz along with 10 hits. Tyler Shryock went 2-4 with an RBI, Patrick Palmeiro went 2-4, Zach Fish celebrated being the only person on the Voyagers with a name that starts with “Zach Fish” by going 1-3 with a walk. Third round pick Jace Fry pitched two scoreless innings, giving up one hit and getting one strikeout.
DSL White Sox 3, DSL Padres 2
The DSL White Sox pulled out a victory over the DSL Padres with nice games from Roger Ramos, who went 2-3 with a walk and two runs scored, and Carlos Meija who went 1-3 with a double and two RBIs.
