The Knights and Voyagers put an offensive display by combining for 27 runs over their two games. Meanwhile, the rest of the affiliates offenses were mostly held in check during Wednesdays games.
Charlotte 12, Gwinnett 10
The Knights won a slug-fest with the Gwinnett Braves which saw every Knight in the lineup getting at least one hit. Hot-hitting Josh Phegley led the offensive outburst by going 3-4 with a double, a home run, and driving in six runs. Former top prospect Michael Taylor may be having a career revival with the Knights, he went 3-3 with a walk and is hitting a ridiculous .424/.512/.697 over his last ten games. Rehabbing Avisail Garcia went 2-4 with a double and is now hitting .526 since beginning his AAA assignment. Carlos Sanchez, Marcus Semien, and Andy Wilkins all collected two hits and Wilkins hit his International League leading 27th homer.
Huntsville 10, Birmingham 5
Tony Bucciferro has been roughed up in both of his AA starts, he allowed six runs on ten hits over five innings to earn the loss. Trayce Thompson knocked out two hits and Kevan Smith went 1-4 with a double in the loss.
Potomac 10, Winston-Salem 2
James Dykstra, another recent promotion, had pitched well with the Dash until this start. Dykstra was hammered for eight runs on nine hits over his 3.1 innings of work. The Dash offense was three-hit by Potomac pitching, with Keon Barnum going 2-4 and a Jake Peter triple accounting for the only hits.
Hickory 2, Kannapolis 1
The Intimidators offense was held to two hits, a single by Christian Stringer and a double by Jacob Morris. Starting pitcher Robinson Leyer and Tyler Barnette combined to keep the Crawdads to just two runs.
Great Falls 15, Orem 11
The Voyagers exploded for a six run first inning and a nine run fourth inning to power by the Orem Owlz. 2014 11th round draft pick Zach Fish went 3-6 with two doubles and catcher Zach Stoner went 2-3 with two walks to lead the Voyagers to the victory. Mason Robbins went 2-4 with two walks to increase his batting average to .328, which is the top average on the team.
AZL White Sox 2, AZL Indians 1
18 year-old Victor Done, who was signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2012, blanked the Indians over six innings, striking out eight. Done’s ERA is nothing to write home about (4.58), but he has struck out 45 batters in 35.1 innings this season. First basemen Cody Yount went 3-4 and Jose Barraza went 2-4 to lead the White Sox past the Indians.
