It was a dismal day in the upper part of the White Sox system as the Knights, Barons and Dash all lost in definitive fashion despite bright spots from Marcus Semien, Tim Anderson and Rangel Ravelo. Meanwhile the lower minors had a field day with the Intimidators, Voyagers and AZL White Sox all winning, with the Intimidators featuring another home run from Olympic speed skater and FutureSox interviewee Eddy Alvarez.
The Tides completely shut down the Knights on Tuesday as the Sox affiliate could only muster four hits, a single from each of Jared Mitchell, Justin Jirschele, and the rehabbing Moises Sierra and a double from Andy Wilkins. Marcus Semien had three walks as he continues to tear it up since Carlos Sanchez got the call to replace Gordon Beckham on the parent club. The thing is, the Tides didn’t even have a dominant starter as starter Suk-min Yoon only went three innings, followed by reliever Miguel Chalas‘ four. Andre Rienzo went six innings of nine hit, three run, eight strikeout ball for the Knights.
Tim Anderson is on a tear. He’s now hitting .455 in AA after going 2-5 with a home run in the third inning. Sadly, that was the only run the Barons could muster. Anderon’s AFL teammate Rangel Ravelo went 1-3 with a walk and single while other AFL member Kevan Smith went 1-4. Joey DeMichele and Chris Curley each had a double. Myles Jaye had a rough start, giving up five earned runs and walking five in only six innings.
Myrtle Beach 7, Winston-Salem 3
The Dash had a rough day against the Pelicans. Tyler Danish began to show signs of fatigue as he only went two innings, allowing two solo shot home runs though he still only walked one and struck out five. Adam Engel went 1-3 with a walk and Mike Marjama and Keenyn Walker each went 2-4, Walker with an RBI. Cleuluis Rondon got the other RBI on a sac fly.
The Intimidators won the matchup of cities most likely to sound like ancient Greco-Roman locations and were led by Olympic silver medalist speed skater Eddy Alvarez who went 2-4 with a homer and two RBIs to raise his average to .469. Christian Stringer went 1-4 with an RBI and Carl Thomore and Chevy Clarke each had two hits and an RBI, with Thomore also getting a walk.
Louie Lechich led the attack for the Voyagers with a 2-4 performance that included a double, triple and two RBIs. John Ziznewski also had two hits, a double and an RBI and Zach Fisher went 2-3 with walk as well. Brian Clark got the start and went five innings allowing only five hits and one earned run, walking none and striking out five.
The AZL White Sox rode some unfamiliar names to victory, starting with Antonio Rodriguez going 1-4 with a double and two RBIs, Louis Silverio went 1-4 with an RBI, Johan Cruz went 1-3 with an RBI and a walk and leadoff man Michael Suiter went 2-4 with a double and RBI. Evin Einhardt got the start and went five innings and allowing three runs while Jamie Patterson got the win after going two innings, allowing one run and striking out two.
