White Sox Minor League Recap 4/12/15: Montas unhittable and Anderson walks-off

Norfolk 9, Charlotte 2
First baseman Dan Black homered and tripled, but that was about all the good news from Charlotte Sunday as the Knights were beaten soundly by the Norfolk Tides. Carlos Sanchez went 1-5 in his first game since being demoted from Chicago and Trayce Thompson went 1-3 with a walk. A trio of former White Sox pitchers had disappointing outings, Scott Carroll started the game and allowed three runs over his four innings of work while Daniel Webb and Matt Lindstrom gave up two runs apiece.
Birmingham 2, Mobile 1
The day after fellow top pitching prospects Carlos Rodon and Tyler Danish dominated their debuts, Frankie Montas was masterful, not allowing a hit over his 5.1 innings on Sunday. Making only his second Double-A start, Montas showed off his plus fastball by topping out at 100 mph and commanding his four pitches en route to striking out eight Mobile batters. Shortshop Tim Anderson went 2-5 with a double and a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th to win the game for the Barons.
Frederick 5, Winston-Salem 3 (11 innings)
Starter Tony Bucciferro went 5.2 strong innings, only allowing 2 runs (1 earned) while strangely striking out and walking none. Reliever Michael Ynoa, who was acquired along with Jeff Samardzija, left with an undisclosed injury after one pitch. Keon Barnum continued his hot start to the season by blasting his first home run and Jake Peter, Omar Narvaez, and Keenyn Walker collected two hits respectively.
Kannapolis 8, Lakewood 0
Starter Thad Lowry continued the string of strong starting pitching performances by twirling a gem of his own. Lowry went six innings, striking out four and only allowing three hits and one walk. Converted infielder Brad Salgado earned the old fashion three inning save by pitching a scoreless 7th, 8th, and 9th. Michael Suiter and Mason Robbins both went 2-5 and Louie Lechich went 2-4 to lead the Intimidators to the victory.
