Well Carlos Sanchez is now hitting .411 after going 2-4 with two RBIs. Outside of Sanchez’s amazing hot streak, the Knights couldn’t string together any of their seven hits into much offense. Matt Davidson had the only extra base hit, his sixth home run, and that was paired with three strikeouts. It doesn’t matter though because the pitching didn’t hold it together as Erik Johnson gave up five earned in four innings with three strikeouts and Javy Guerra only had 0.2 innings of five run ball as he continues his rehab assignment. Daniel Webb had three strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work and Maikel Cleto had a scoreless, two strikeout eighth inning. Most of the Knights other than Sanchez and Cleto probably want to forget today.
Frederick 12, Winston-Salem 10
The Dash lineup fought valiantly from an 9-0 deficit after three innings. Every starter had a hit, Jake Peter and Keenyn Walker having two apiece. Trey Michalczewski had a grand slam (first homer of the season) and walked in another run to provide half of the Dash’s RBIs and Cleuluis Rondon tied his career high in homers with two, after slugging one from the right side of the plate. Nick Basto was the third Dash to homer, going 1-5 with a three run blast. Sadly, the pitching couldn’t hold it down as Robinson Leyer gave up nine runs, eight earned, off nine hits and three walks. Zach Isler also gave up three runs, two earned, in his two innings of work and this prevented the Dash from getting the win.
