Lehigh Valley 3, Charlotte 1
The Knights had a bad case of déjà vu, as they lost by a score of 3-1 for the second straight night. Chris Beck twirled a quality start, pitching seven innings and only allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks, striking out six. Beck has been pitching very well recently, only allowing five earned runs over his last 26 innings. Micah Johnson returned to the lineup after being out of action for a few games due to a sprained ankle, and he went 1-5 with a strikeout while playing second base. Dan Black had a perfect day at the plate, going 1-1 with a double and three walks. White Sox bullpen candidate Maikel Cleto struck out the side in a scoreless appearance.
Biloxi 4, Birmingham 1
The Barons had eight hits but could only score one run and committed three errors en route to a loss Friday. Jacob May went 2-4 at the top of the lineup and Courtney Hawkins went 1-4. Anderson went 2-4 at the plate, however he was caught stealing and committed two errors in the field. Starter Mark Blackmar pitched seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks.
Winston- Salem 4, Salem 0
For the second consecutive day, the Dash pitching blanked the Salem Red Sox. Starter Jake Cose and relievers Sean Hagan and Brad Goldberg combined to only allow five hits on nine scoreless innings. Cose has a sparkling 1.74 ERA over his 20.2 innings this season, which is fantastic news considering he missed all of 2014 with an injury. Keenyn Walker, a former supplemental 1st round pick, led the offense by going 2-3 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base. Trey Michalczewski, Omar Narvaez, and Cleuluis Rondon all went 1-4 in the victory.
Kannapolis 4, Hickory 3
After being shutout in both games of their doubleheader yesterday, the Hickory Crawdads had the misfortune of facing Kannapolis ace and possibly one of the hottest pitchers in all of the minors, Jordan Guerrero. Guerrero dominated over his five innings, only allowing one hit and no walks while striking out six. Over his past three starts, Guerrero has thrown eighteen scoreless innings, striking out twenty four and only allowing six hits and four walks. Louie Lechich went 2-4 with two RBI’s and Christian Stringer went 2-3 with a walk to give the Intimidators just enough runs to hold off a late Hickory rally.
