White Sox Minor League Recap 7/29/2015: Sox full season affiliates sweep the day

Charlotte 6, Louisville 2
Starter Hector Noesi cruised over his seven innings and Jason Coats led the offense as the Knights easily defeated the Louisville Bats on Wednesday. Micah Johnson walked and scored but had to leave the game due to what FutureSox has learned was an ankle injury. Tyler Colvin, who replaced Johnson in the lineup, double and tripled but Jason Coats stole the show with a 3-4 night and his 12th home run. That was all the run support Hector Noesi needed as he struck out nine batters over seven innings while only allowing two runs and no walks.
Something of note, Noesi and the Knights defeated recently acquired pitcher John Lamb, who was sent from the Royals to the Reds organization in the Johnny Cueto trade.
Birmingham 3, Mississippi 2
The Barons scored three runs in the 7th inning to rally past the Mississippi Braves and increased their lead in the Southern League standings in the process. Third baseman Nick Delmonico, who has been slumping in July after a red-hot June, went 2-4 with a key double in the 7th inning. Tim Anderson, who was just anointed the #45 prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, went 1-3 with an RBI. Courtney Hawkins went 1-4 with a double and Adrian Nieto walked three times.
Robinson Leyer allowed two earned runs over five innings, but Tyler Barnette earned the win with three scoreless innings in relief. Closer Peter Tago came on in the 9th and threw a scoreless inning to collect his second save as a Baron.
Winston-Salem 5, Wilmington 4 (Game 1)
Carson Fulmer gave up his first runs as a professional as he served up two home runs over two innings. The good news is that he still struck out three and did not issue a walk and the Dash rallied for the win. Trey Michalczewski blasted his 7th home run of the season and Keon Barnum went 3-3 to lead the offense. Adam Engel went 1-3 with a double and a walk and stole his 44th base of the season in the leadoff spot.
Winston-Salem 2, Wilmington 0 (Game 2)
Starter Brian Clark tossed 6.1 scoreless innings to help the Dash sweep the doubleheader over the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Clark began the season as a reliever but since being converted to a starter he has a 1.85 ERA with 23 strikeouts to 6 walks over 24.1 innings. Keon Barnum had an RBI double and Adam Engel went 1-3 and stole his 45th and 46th bases of the year. Engel is easily leading the Carolina League in stolen bases and has ten thefts over his past ten games.
*Kannapolis had the day off and will play Thurday night at home versus Greensboro*
Billings 7, Great Falls 6
The Great Falls Voyagers scored five runs in the 8th inning to tie the ballgame but were victims of a walk-off in the 9th. Catcher Zach Fish and outfielder Antonio Rodriguez had three hit days and Rodriguez added a stolen base for good measure. Jake Jarvis chipped in two hits as well but it was not enough as the Voyagers fell just short.
AZL Royals 5, AZL White Sox 4
The Arizona League White Sox also had a late rally come up just short as they dropped a game the Royals on Wednesday. The Sox scored three runs in the 9th but it was too little too late. Outfielder Jake Fincher went 3-4 with two RBI’s and raised his average to an impressive .363. 2015 5th round draft pick Jordan Stephens struck out three batters over two scoreless innings. Stephens has yet to give up a run over five innings of work and has struck out six batters.
DSL White Sox 6, DSL Orioles 4
The DSL Sox scored three runs in the 8th to defeat the DSL Orioles down in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday night.
