Winston-Salem 4, Myrtle Beach 2
The eyes of the minor league baseball world were focused on Winston-Salem as the Dash hosted the Cubs affiliate Myrtle Beach Pelicans in Game 1 of the Carolina League Playoffs on Wednesday. 2015 first round draft pick and FutureSox #1 prospect Carson Fulmer fittingly got the start and only allowed one run over three innings.
Carson Fulmer sat 94-95 t 96 in the first. Showed the nasty cb 5 times and bounced the one change he threw.

The Dash got an offensive jolt from their best hitter as Trey Michalczewski blasted a two-run home run in the 1st inning to give the Dash the lead.
Trey Michalczewski hit bomb of epic proportions. Clanked off the walkway in right field. Turned on 94 from Underwood. #WhiteSox

First baseman Keon Barnum took the very next pitch from Cubs top pitching prospect Duane Underwood and sent it out of the ballpark for a solo home run to increase the lead.
Reliever Brian Clark took over for Fulmer in the 4th inning and carved up the Pelicans over five innings and his only blemish was a solo home run. The appearance lowered Clark’s ERA to a minuscule 1.99 over his last 49.2 innings. Baseball America’s JJ Cooper had this to say about Clark….
@FutureSox @jnorris427 crafty. Fringe avg fb tonight but locates. Secondary stuff is useable. Painting corners. Works quick.

Closer Brad Goldberg was tasked with protecting the lead in the 9th and did so easily by going 1-2-3 to earn his 12th save of the season and give the Dash a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.
The series now shifts to Myrtle Beach as Dash starter Yency Almonte will oppose Myrtle Beach pitcher Brad Markey. If the Dash can win, they will advance to the Carolina League Championship to face either the Lynchburg Hillcats or the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
