Myrtle Beach 4, Winston-Salem 3
The Dash once again tried to rally late against the Pelicans. Down 4-2 in the ninth, Jake Peter reached on an error by Gleyber Torres and Trey Michalczewski followed with a ground rule double. Keon Barnum was able to successfully drive in Peter with a ground out, but the rally fell short at 4-3 as Nick Basto struck out to end the game.
Brandon Brennan got the start for the Dash and went 6.2 innings while giving up four runs – three earned. All three of those runs happened in the first and came off of a Victor Caratini double, that scored Jorge Soler and company. After his rough first, Brennan pitched five scoreless frames until an unearned run in the seventh.
Adam Engel had a two-run homer to provide most of the offensive support in the third inning.
Andre Wheeler threw 1.1 scoreless innings of relief where he tallied three strikeouts to end the season.
Eddy Alvarez, Omar Narvaez and Nolan Early all had singles. The Dash totaled six hits on the day.
Stay tuned to Future Sox for a recap of the Dash’s season coming soon.
