White Sox Minor League Recap 4/21/2016: Turner and Walters Brilliant on the Mound, Lassiter Stays Hot

Charlotte 2, Gwinnett 1 (10 innings)
Jacob Turner made the start for the Knights and was lights out, firing seven scoreless innings of four-hit ball with a walk and five strikeouts. Recently promoted Tyler Barnette earned the win in relief, pitching a scoreless tenth inning without surrendering a hit. Kevan Smith and Andy Parrino led the way offensively, each going 2 for 4 with a RBI. Tim Anderson, Carlos Sanchez, J.B. Shuck, Travis Ishikawa, and Jacob May each had a hit as well.
The Knights will go for the two game sweep over the Braves tonight, as Miguel Gonzalez is set to make the start.
Jackson 4, Birmingham 3
Brandon Brennan got the start for the Barons, lasting four innings while giving up four runs on five hits. He also walked two and struck out three. Nolan Sanburn was spectacular in relief, throwing three scoreless innings while giving up just one hit. Robin Leyer also contributed out of the bullpen, pitching a scoreless inning in relief. Offensively, Eudy Pina led the way with a 3 for 5 night, and also scored one run. Other contributors were Nick Delmonico, who went 1 for 3 with a double, RBI, and a walk, and Jake Peter, who went 1 for 3 with a RBI.
Tyler Danish returns to the mound tonight, where he will face off with the Chattanooga Lookouts in game one of a five game set.
Winston-Salem 7, Salem 2
Blair Walters was the starter for the Dash, and he earned the win in an excellent performance. He threw seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits, while striking out four and walking two. Euclides Leyer and Kelvis Valerio were excellent out of the bullpen, each pitching a scoreless inning on the night. At the plate, Nick Basto was a major contributor, going 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. In addition to Basto, Toby Thomas stood out, going 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs. Hunter Jones, Brett Austin, and Louie Lechich each had two hits as well.
Spencer Adams looks to build on his strong 2016 start as he will square off with the Red Sox in game two of a four game set tonight.
Kannapolis 9, Delmarva 3
Johnathan Frebis made the start, lasting five innings while giving up two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Drew Hasler was stellar in relief, as he pitched two scoreless innings without giving up a hit, and also had two punch outs. Landon Lassiter returned to form offensively, as he went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Lassiter is now hitting an impressive .391/.472/.478 on the season. Corey Zangari went 1 for 5 on the night with two RBI and a double. Grant Massey and Cody Daily each had two hits as well. Tyler Sullivan didn’t get a hit, but drew three more walks and is getting on base at a .422 clip.
The Intimidators return to action tonight with the Shorebirds in game two of a four game series, and Luis Martinez is set to start.
