White Sox Minor League Recap 5/27/2016: Winless Night on the Farm, Cooper Stellar in Loss, Fulmer’s Control Issues Remain

It was a winless night for the White Sox Minor League affiliates, as all four teams in action last night lost. Matt Cooper had 12 strikeouts in a loss, but now leads all of Minor League Baseball with 75 punch outs. Carson Fulmer still is having his control issues, as he walked seven Blue Wahoo batters over four innings last night, and now has 34 walks over 46 innings of work on the season.

Scott Carroll struggled in his start, going 5.1 innings and giving up five runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Chris Beck and Will Lamb were excellent out of the bullpen though, as they combined for 2.2 scoreless innings. The Knights could not get anything going offensively against Logan Darnell, who fired a five hit complete game shut out. J.B. Shuck and Jason Coats each had one double, while Danny Hayes, Andy Parrino, and Omar Narvaez each had a single on the night.
The Knights return to action tonight with the Red Wings, and a starter has yet to be announced.

It was not a good night on the mound for the Barons, as Carson Fulmer made the start and had major control issues from the get go. He lasted just four innings, giving up three runs on four hits while walking seven batters. Control has been a big issue for the top prospect this year, as he now has 34 walks over 46 innings pitched this season. James Dykstra threw a nice eighth inning, as he gave up no runs on one hit with a pair of strikeouts. At the plate, the Barons were only able to muster out three hits on the night. Trey Michalczewski had a double, RBI, and a run scored, while Marcus Lemon and Joey DeMichele each had a single on the night.
Southpaw David Holmberg gets the ball tonight as the Barons square off with the Blue Wahoos in game four of a five game set.

Thaddius Lowry makes his tenth start of the season tonight against the Nationals.
Asheville 7, Kannapolis 6
Christopher Comito got the start and did well, firing five innings of two run ball while striking out seven. Cody Daily also went deep, a solo shot and his third of the season. Seby Zavala and Tyler Sullivan had multi hit games, while Johan Cruz, Corey Zangari, Bradley Strong, and Landon Lassiter all had one hit.
