White Sox Minor League Recap 6/4/2016: Sanchez and Rottino go deep in win, Kannapolis comes back in convincing fashion

The Knights’ bats came to life in their victory, while the Intimidators put up four runs in the top of the ninth to come back and win. Birmingham fell in their game, while Winston-Salem and Wilmington were suspended due to rain. Vinny Rottino and Carlos Sanchez went deep for the Knights, while Grant Massey led the way offensively for Kannapolis.
Charlotte 8, Lehigh Valley 4
Chris Volstad earned his fourth win of the season, firing six innings and giving up three runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts. Brad Goldberg was another standout on the mound, as he threw a scoreless ninth inning and punched out one. Offensively, the Knights had an impressive 14 hits on the night, and were led by Vinny Rottino, who had two hits and four RBIs on the night, including a three run home run. Carlos Sanchez also went deep, hitting his fourth home run of the season, a two run shot. Other offensive standouts include Jason Bourgeois, who had three hits on the night, while Tim Anderson, Matt Davidson, and Nick Delmonico all had a pair of hits.
The Knights and Iron Pigs square off this afternoon as Anthony Ranaudo makes the start.
Chattanooga 9, Birmingham 6
Blair Walters made the start for the Barons, but only lasted two innings as he gave up four runs on four hits. While it was a night to forget on the mound, Brock Huntzinger and Matt Lollis did a nice job out of the bullpen, as they combined for 2.1 scoreless innings. At the plate, Eudy Pina and Sean O’Connell had a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Eddy Alvarez also had two hits on the night.
Tyler Danish takes the mound tonight as the Barons open up a five game series with the Mobile Bay Bears.
Winston-Salem 2, Wilmington 2 (Suspended, Resume Game on 6/5)
The game between the Dash and Blue Rocks was suspended to due rain. This game will be completed this afternoon, and will be followed by another game immediately after.
Kannapolis 5, Charleston 3
Johnathan Frebis made the start, going 4.1 innings and giving up three runs on seven hits. The bullpen was excellent and kept the Intimidators in the game, as Alex Katz, Yelmison Peralta, and Jack Charleston combined for 4.2 scoreless innings, with Charleston getting the win. The Intimidators were down 3 to 1 heading into the top of the ninth, and they scored four runs and took a 5 to 3 lead. Grant Massey had two hits and a pair of RBIs, while Antonio Rodriguez and Landon Lassiter had multi-hit games as well.
Luis Martinez makes the start tonight against the Greenville Drive.
