Two teams came away victorious on the farm in Winston-Salem and the DSL White Sox. Spencer Adams returned from a brief DL stint and turned in a very nice start, throwing six innings and giving up just two runs. The bats exploded for the Dash as well, led by Toby Thomas and 2016 first rounder and recently promoted Zack Collins. Thomas had four hits, including his fifth home run of the season, while Collins had three hits and hit his first home run of his professional career.
Pawtucket 2, Charlotte 0
Kameron Loe was excellent in his start, as he gave up two unearned runs over 6.1 innings while striking out two. Ryan Webb followed and pitched 1.2 innings of hitless relief.
The bats went silent for the Knights, as they were shut out by two Red Sox pitchers. Jason Coats had two hits on the night, including a double, while Jerry Sands also hit a double. Jacob May, Kevan Smith, and Jake Peter also contributed, as each had one base knock in the game.
Chris Volstad makes the start tonight as the Knights and Red Sox square off in game three of the four game series between the two clubs.
Biloxi 4, Birmingham 3
Blair Walters started for the Barons, and lasted 4.2 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits with two strikeouts. Brandon Brennan did a very nice job in his relief appearance, as he pitched 2.1 scoreless innings while striking out two.
At the plate, Courtney Hawkins had a pair of hits, including a double, while Trey Michalczewski had a single and drove in two. Eddy Alvarez was another contributor, as he hit a solo home run, his sixth of the season. Adam Engel also had a hit and one run scored, while Brady Shoemaker had a single on the night.
The Barons and Shuckers meet again tonight, and no starter has been announced.
Winston-Salem 10, Potomac 4
Spencer Adams earned his eighth win of the season, going six innings and giving up two runs on six hits with three strikeouts. This was great to see, as the young righty returned from the seven day disabled list after an ankle injury. Kelvis Valerio earned his second save of the season, giving up two runs over three innings of work.

Recently promoted and 2016 first round draft pick Zack Collins made a bang in his High-A debut, as he had three hits and three RBIs, while belting a two run home run, his first as a professional. Michael Suiter went 4 for 5 with two RBIs, while Gerson Montilla and Nick Basto both had a hit and one RBI. Mason Robbins also contributed, as he had a hit and two runs scored.
The Dash open up a four game series with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans tonight and Jordan Stephens will make the start.
Orem 10, Great Falls 7
Yosmer Solorzano made the start and had a night to forget, as he gave up five runs on six hits in just one inning of work. The pitching as a whole struggled, outside of Jake Elliot, who was brilliant over five innings. The 15th rounder in this year’s draft hurled five scoreless innings, giving up just one hit and striking out seven.
Offensively, Brady Conlan led the way with three hits, including a double and three RBIs. Alex Call and Aaron Schnurbusch both had two hits, while Jackson Glines had a triple, one RBI, and three walks. Other contributors were Carlos Perez, who had one hit and two RBIs, and Corey Zangari, who had a single and one RBI.
The Voyagers open a four game series with the Grand Junction Rockies starting tonight, and Aron McRee will make the start.
DSL White Sox 9, DSL D-backs 7 (Game 1 – 9 innings)
DSL White Sox 0, DSL D-backs 0 (Game 2 – Suspended in the Bottom of the Fifth)
**Kannapolis and Greensboro were postponed due to rain. They will make that game up in a double header on Sunday. The two teams return to action tonight.
**AZL White Sox had the day off but are set to square off with the AZL Brewers tonight.
