Three teams were victorious on the farm last night, as Winston-Salem, Kannapolis, and the DSL White Sox all came away on top. Tanner Banks was brilliant in his start, firing seven scoreless frames. Nick Basto hit his eleventh home run in that game for the Dash, while Antonio Rodriguez had a big night with two hits and three RBIs in the Intimidators’ win.
Columbus 1, Charlotte 0
Tyler Danish was terrific in his start, firing six innings of one run ball while surrendering just one run on three hits with four strikeouts. Over his last three starts (18 IP), he has allowed just three earned runs with fourteen strikeouts. The bullpen did their job as well, as Chris Beck threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts and was than followed by Brad Goldberg who threw a scoreless ninth.
Offensively, the Knights wasted a solid pitching performance by Danish and the pen and were shut out. Jason Bourgeois led the way with a pair of hits, including a double, and Kevan Smith and Daniel Muno both doubled on the night as well.
The Knights and Clippers return to action this afternoon with Kameron Loe making the start.
Mississippi 6, Birmingham 1
Tyler Barnette started for the Barons, giving up five runs on five hits with three strikeouts over five innings of work. Zack Burdi was impressive in relief, as he hurled two scoreless innings while giving up just one hit and striking out five. Excluding Burdi’s first outing with the Barons, he now has a 2.31 ERA and 20 strikeouts over 11.2 innings.
The Barons bats struggled mightily on the night, as they were only able to muster two hits and one run. All of the Barons offense came from Joey DeMichele, as he had the team’s only two hits, including a triple, and one run scored.
The Barons and Braves meet again tonight in the final game of a five game set, and James Dykstra will get the start.
Winston-Salem 4, Lynchburg 0
Tanner Banks was brilliant in his start, going seven innings and giving up no runs on four hits with seven strikeouts. Yelmison Peralta was stellar en route to earning his third save of the season, as the right hander fired two hitless innings while striking out one.
The Dash had four hits on the night offensively, but that was all they would need. All four of their runs came from the bat of Nick Basto, as he had two hits, including his 11th home run of the season, a two run blast in the top of the first. Gerson Montilla also played a pivotal role, as he went 2 for 2 with two walks and two runs scored.
The Dash and Hillcats play again tonight, and Thaddius Lowry will be on the bump for the start.
Kannapolis 6, Greensboro 4
Jimmy Lambert started for the Intimidators, going 2.1 innings while giving up one earned run on five hits and striking out one. Dylan Barrow followed Lambert and earned his second win of the season, as he went four innings and gave up two runs on four hits while striking out six. Ben Wright shut the down and earned his second save of the year, giving up one run on three hits over 2.1 innings.
Antonio Rodriguez was the x-factor for the Intimidators’ offense, as he had a pair of hits and three RBIs. K.J. Woods and Bradley Strong both had one hit and a RBI, while lead off man Tyler Sullivan had three base knocks and run scored. Alex Call also had a very nice game, as he went 2 for 5 with a double and a run scored.
The Intimidators and Grasshoppers square off tonight and Johnathan Frebis is set to start.
Billings 4, Great Falls 3
Alec Hansen turned in a solid start, lasting five innings and giving up two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts. Adam Panayotovich did a great job in his relief appearance, firing two hitless innings and striking out two.
The Voyagers only had four hits on the night, as Mitch Roman had a pair of hits, including a triple and a run scored. Brady Conlan cranked his fifth home run of the season, a two run shot, while Max Dutto had a hit and a RBI on the night as well.
The Voyagers and Mustangs play again tonight, and Bernardo Flores makes the start.
AZL Royals 8, AZL White Sox 5
Victor Done started for the White Sox, lasting just three innings and giving up six runs (four earned) on four hits with two punch outs. Brad Haynes pitched two innings of relief of one run ball, and Brandan Agar followed with three innings of one run ball as well.
At the plate, Amado Nunez and Michael Hickman both had a pair of hits and one RBI, while Maiker Feliz and L0uis Silverio had two hits each as well. Felix Mercedes also played a solid role with a hit and two RBIs, while J.J. Franco had one hit and one RBI as well.
The White Sox are off today, but return to action tomorrow night with the AZL Mariners.
