Durham 10, Charlotte 2
Anthony Ranaudo allowed five runs to score over four innings as the Knights were trampled by the Durham Bulls Friday. Leury Garcia doubled and tripled and Adam Engel went 1-2 with a walk to pace the offense.
David Holmberg will get the start on Saturday as the Knights look to even the series.
Chattanooga 12, Birmingham 1
Starter Blair Walters could not record an out in the 4th inning after allowing six runs and Matt Cooper uncharacteristically struggled as well. Reliever Nolan Sanburn was a bright spot, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings.
Courtney Hawkins provided the only Birmingham run via a home run. The long ball was Hawkin’s tenth of the year but his fourth in his last seven games.
Spencer Adams will toe the rubber as the Barons look for some revenge on Saturday.
Winston-Salem 10, Lynchburg 2
Jordan Stephens cruised over 5.1 innings and was supported by an offensive onslaught. Stephens only allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out six to earn his sixth win of the year.
Third baseman Gerson Montilla led the offense by going 4-6 with two doubles. Catcher Zack Collins (read his exclusive FutureSox interview here) went 2-4 with a double and a walk in the winning effort.
Tanner Banks will take the mound on Saturday in a contiuation of the series with Lynchburg.
Kannapolis 6, Lakewood 3
Second baseman Grant Massey led the offense by going 3-4 with a double and starter Luis Martinez only allowed one earned run over six innings as Kannapolis rolled Lakewood. Outfielder Alex Call went 2-5 and is hitting .432 over his last ten contests. Ian Hamilton pitched a 1-2-3 9th to record his sixth save with the Intimidators.
2016 draft pick Jimmy Lambert takes a 1.62 ERA into his start against Lakewood on Saturday.
Great Falls 7, Idaho Falls 2
Aaron Schnurbusch homered for the third consecutive game and somehow keeps improving upon his unbelievable rookie season. Schnurbusch is now slashing .385/.489/.609 and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Starter Bernardo Flores worked 5 innings and only relinquished one earned run to earn the win.
The Voyagers, who have the best record of any of the Sox affiliates at 28-21, will send Christopher Comito to start the rubber match against Idaho Falls on Saturday.
AZL Brewers 14, AZL White Sox 7
The AZL Sox dropped an extremely ugly game that included five errors by five different players. Despite the defensive gaffes, the offense produced, as Luis Curbelo went 3-4 with a walk and Trevin Sonnier went 2-5 with a home run. Amado Nunez and Hanleth Otano both chipped in two hits.
