Three affiliates lose in extras as Alec Hansen tosses five innings of no-hit ball. Jameson Fisher shines on an otherwise dismal night for the Voyager’s offense. Up in Charlotte, Zack Burdi proves just why he’s ready for The Show, racking up five strikeouts in two innings.
Charlotte 9, Gwinnett 5
Chris Volstad had a mixed bag start for the Charlotte Knights. He earned the win and went seven innings, but gave up eleven hits and fives runs in the process. Zack Burdi is on the fast track to Chicago and proved why last night. Burdi notched the save behind two innings of clean baseball, tallying five strikeouts against just one walk. Jake Peter paced the offense going 2-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs. Kevin Smith wasn’t far behind him. He collected three hits and also went yard. Jerry Sands continued his hot August with a pair of doubles.

Myrtle Beach 4, Winston-Salem 3 (10 innings)
Robinson Leyer just missed a quality start, giving up one run on three hits over 5.2 innings pitched. He walked three batters but also managed five strikeouts in a start that ultimately led to a no decision. On the other side of the ball, Landon Lassiter turned in a 2-for-5 game. Zack Collins drew a walk and hit a double in five plate appearances. Nick Basto went 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored, raising his average with the Dash to .316.
Jordan Stephens looks to continue a strong season with the Dash in tonight’s start.
Greenville 3, Kannapolis 2 (11 innings)
Brannon Easterling threw a quality start for the Intimidators. He gave up two earned runs through six innings. Despite giving up a home run, Easterling was otherwise solid as he struck out seven and didn’t allow a single free pass. Michael Horejsei pitched two scoreless frames with three strikeouts in relief. On offense, Kannapolis couldn’t manage an extra base hit. However, the club totaled six walks. Alex Call went 0-for-3 with two of them while Antonio Rodriguez walked and got the team’s only RBI in a 1-for-4 evening.

Ogden 2, Great Falls 1 (15 innings)
The positive for Great Falls in this match up was once again starter Alec Hansen. The 2016 2nd rounder walked three and struck out four, but notably carved out five innings of no-hit baseball. Hansen’s ERA is now a cool 1.47 with the Voyagers. This game went deep into extra innings while Matt Foster, Richard McWilliams, and Kevin Escorcia combined to cover 6.1 frames of shutout baseball. Ultimately, the Voyagers would fall to Ogden on account of an offense that struck out 22 times. Joel Booker, Max Dutto, and Aaron Schnurbusch each had a trio of whiffs while Corey Zangari went 1-for-7 with four punchouts. Jameson Fisher was the diamond in the rough of the evening, going 3-for-6 with a double.
Bernardo Flores is scheduled to start for the Voyagers tonight.
AZL White Sox 8, AZL Reds 3
Brandon Quintero had a solid outing for the AZL White Sox, giving up just three hits over five frames. He also added seven strikeouts against no walks in his scoreless start. The offense had no extra-base hits but Jake Fincher went 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Luis Curbelo went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.
