The White Sox absolutely have to claim Raudel Lazo who was just designated for assignment by the Marlins. He had a fantastic year and has been good his entire minor league career. He’s 27. He is a relief pitcher. I’ve never seen a player with these kinds of stats DFA’d. I realize stats don’t tell the whole story, but someone has to get him.
With minor league’s playoff system being split between half seasons, do they have a playoff after the first half or just include all the teams and have the playoffs at the end of the season?
Jim, they have the playoffs at the end of the season. Depending on the league and how many divisions each league has, a team will clinch from each division in the first half of the season and automatically get a playoff spot for the end of the season. Another team from each division will clinch a playoff spot at the end of the second half of the season. I hope that makes sense.
