The White Sox went with college players in the first three rounds of the draft, but went the high school route in Round 4.
The Sox drafted Miami-area shortstop Lency Delgado at No. 108 overall. As opposed to the first three picks, which were all unanimously highly rated by the various draft prospect websites, Delgado wasn’t expected to go this high.

At 6-foot-3, Delgado is a big shortstop and his defense seems to be his best asset. On the MLB.com draft stream, Jonathan Mayo said Delgado has a plus arm. The discussion around Delgado involved a potential move to third base, but there was question about whether his bat could play at that spot. From various scouting reports, it sounds like he has a raw bat with some raw power potential.
Delgado hit .480 with 13 homers this high school season. He is committed to Florida International, but typically fourth-round picks sign.
