Another seminal moment in the White Sox rebuild is upon us. All 100 of those losses in 2018 netted the White Sox the third pick in the 2019 draft, which should net the team another premium prospect.
We’ll gather info on the first pick as well as who the White Sox pick in each of the 40 rounds of the three-day draft. We will update this page with info, stats and links on each White Sox draft pick as well as signing bonus information and initial affiliate assignment.
The White Sox have $11,565,500 for their signing bonus pool. Pool amounts and slot bonuses from Jim Callis on MLB.com.
Players in bold are signed (or it has been reported they will sign) and italics will be for players who have stated they will not sign.

The White Sox signed 37 players out of 40 selected:

White Sox get one of the most polished bats in the draft in Vaughn.

5 (140): Dan Metzdorf. LHP, 5-10, 165, Boston College
After going with three straight high school picks, the White Sox get a likely underslot signing with a college senior. Metzdorf has been a starter for BC since his sophomore year. After having an ERA north of 5 in his sophomore and junior years, Metzdorf was a third-team All-American as a senior. He posted a 2.30 ERA with 72 strikeouts and 32 walks in 82.1 innings.
He was off the board for most draft publications. He has a high 80s fastball. The Yankees drafted him in the 38th round last year.
- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $10,000 per MLBPipeline (Slot was $394,300)
- Assigned: Great Falls Voyagers
6 (170): Avery Weems, LHP, 6-2, 205, Arizona
Now it’s back-to-back college senior lefties. Weems spent two years in junior college before landing at Arizona. In two seasons with the Wildcats, Weems made 17 starts, but mostly came out of the pen. In both years in Tucson, he had an ERA north of 5. As a senior, Weems had a 7.15 ERA with 47 strikeouts and 19 walks in 61.2 innings.

7 (200): Karan Patel, RHP, 6-0, 205, Texas-San Antonio
Three straight college senior pitchers. Patel has some good college production though. He used a low 90s fastball to post a 2.84 ERA with 104 strikeouts and 36 walks in 92 innings as a senior. Also played cricket for the U.S. national team.
- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $10,000 (Slot was $231,100)
- Assigned: Great Falls Voyagers
8 (230): Ivan Gonzalez, C, R-R, 5-9, 190, West Virginia
Another college senior, but this one from the other end of the battery. Gonzalez is 22 (turns 23 in October). He was a freshman All-American hitting .381/.437/.493, but he failed to replicate that production. This spring he hit .286/.397/.395 with more walks (32) than strikeouts (31) as the starting backstop for the Mountaineers. For his college career he struck out in only 10.4% of his plate appearances.
- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $10,000 according to MLBPipeline (Slot was $183,700)
- Assigned: AZL White Sox
9 (260): Tyson Messer, RHP, 6-0, 215, Campbell
The run of seniors continues. Messer was second team All-Big South as a junior in 2018 with eight saves in 27 appearances. He had 28 strikeouts and 28 walks in 26 2/3 innings that year. This season, Messer upped both his strikeout rate and his walk rate: 34 K, 22 BB in 17 innings.

The White Sox finish Day 2 with six straight college seniors. Pawelczyk makes it two straight from Big South schools. As a starter this spring, he had a 3.90 ERA with 83 strikeouts and 29 walks in 92.1 innings. He features a low 90s fastball.
- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $10,000 (Slot was $147,400)
- Assigned: Great Falls Voyagers
11 (320): Victor Torres, C, R-R, 6-0, 175, International Baseball Academy (P.R.)

- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $175,000 per MLBPipeline (50,000 vs pool)
- Assigned: AZL White Sox
12 (350): Misael Gonzalez Acosta, CF, R-R, 6-0, 175, Leadership Christian Academy (P.R.)

At Florida Southern, Bradford had a 5.58 ERA with 89 K and 57 BB in 80.2 IP.
- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $125,000
- Assigned: AZL White Sox
14 (410): McKinley Moore, RHP, 6-6, 225, Arkansas-Little Rock
Moore has been used mostly as a reliever in three years for Arkansas-Little Rock. He has also been very erratic. He had more walks than strikeouts in all three of his college seasons. This spring he struck out 22 and walked 23 in 17.2 innings with a 8.15 ERA. Noted for having a big fastball, but obviously needs to refine his command.
- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $100,000
- Assigned: AZL White Sox
15 (440): Caleb Freeman, RHP, 6-1, 190, Texas Tech
Another college junior with command issues. Like Moore, Freeman has good velocity, but little else at this point. Freeman was used almost exclusively as a reliever for the Red Raiders and had an ERA north of 5 in all three years. He had 13 K, 13 BB in 15.2 IP this spring with a 6.89 ERA.

16 (470): D.J. Gladney, 3B, R-R, 6-3, 195, Illiana Christian HS (Ill.)
The White Sox go back to the prep route with a local product. Perfect Game gives Gladney credit for having good speed and power potential. A raw high school talent, but some upside there if he signs. He is committed to Eastern Kentucky. Also a product of the White Sox ACE program.
- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $225,000 per MLBPipeline (100,000 vs pool)
- Assigned: AZL White Sox

- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $125,000
- Assigned: AZL White Sox
19 (560): Joshua Rivera, SS, R-R, 5-11, 185, Chipola JC
Rivera has some tools and is a Florida commit so this likely won’t be an easy sign. He spent two years at Chipola Junior College, a juggernaut program in Florida. He hit .317/.410/.481 this spring. Puerto Rico native.
- Status: Signed
- Bonus: $125,000

DJ Gladney refers to himself as “white Sox ace” in his Twitter bio: https://mobile.twitter.com/djglad11?lang=en
Though I just realized he was part of the ACE program, so that’s probably it…
Update: Gladney has changed his Twitter profile to simply “professional baseball player” – seems to suggest he’s signing.
Still no official signings/assignments?
McKinley Moore’s Twitter bio says he’s in the White Sox organization.
Don’t think Caeden Trenkle is signing. He is currently playing in a collegiate summer league.
