Patreon Roundtable Podcast: 2020 a Prime Opportunity for White Sox Prospects

Mike Rankin, Dan Santaromita, James Fox and Ken Sawilchik got together to discuss the start of the baseball season, which saw its first case of coronavirus affecting an organization. The group reacted to the news surfacing that 14 people within the Miami Marlins tested positive for COVID-19.

Later, the FutureSox writers focused on the start of the 2020 campaign for the Chicago White Sox. Several prospects made their debuts, including Luis Robert, Jimmy Lambert and Codi Heuer. With Reynaldo Lopez placed on the Injured List due to a right shoulder issue, there may be an increased need for inexperienced arms to take on innings. Could Dane Dunning be on his way?

Jared Kelley, Garrett Crochet and Matthew Thompson are assigned to the alternate team site in Schaumburg. How valuable will this experience be for the young pitchers and what are the White Sox’ intentions for them this season?

Nick Madrigal was left off the Opening Day roster. Is service time manipulation the reason?

Ken also shared a project he is working on related to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. The White Sox single-A affiliate were planning to re-launch the franchise following its rebrand, but unfortunate circumstances changed the affiliate’s plan.
