Hi-A Winston-Salem secured a sweep of the three outfield spots, led by Travis Moniot’s standout performance, in the FutureSox MiLB Team of the Week for the period of May 31 – June 6, 2021. 

Here’s a look at the full lineup:

Catcher — Daniel Millwee (Hi-A) — 3 G, .444/.643/.778, HR, RBI, 5 R, SB

  • Hi-A catcher Daniel Millwee, whose name I consistently misspell with one “L,” put together a strong three-game slate, which saw him reach base eight times. The 25-year-old backstop recorded three hits, including a home run, and scored three times in Winston-Salem’s 13-7 win against Greensboro (PIT) on Wednesday.

First baseman — Gavin Sheets (Triple-A) — 4 G, .286/.286/.571, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, 3 R

  • White Sox No. 9 prospect Gavin Sheets saw a short-lived first experience with the big-league club after Andrew Vaughn spent a few days on the injured list (COVID-19 protocol), but punctuated his week with a bang. The former second-round pick out of Wake Forest deposited his fifth home run of the season over the wall in right field in Triple-A Charlotte’s 3-2 win against Nashville (MIL) on Sunday. He recorded two hits and scored twice in the series opener Tuesday. Sheets paces the Knights with 22 RBI.

Second baseman — Yolbert Sanchez (Hi-A) — 5 G, .400/.455/.600, 2B, HR, RBI, R

  • White Sox No. 17 prospect Yolbert Sanchez posted three multi-hit efforts, which included a three-hit performance Sunday, across the week-long period. Sanchez, 24-year-old middle infielder from Cuba, also recorded his first home run for Hi-A Winston-Salem on Friday.

Third baseman — Jake Burger (Triple-A) — 6 G, .286/.348/.333, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R

  • It was largely a pedestrian week for third basemen across the system, but White Sox No. 9 prospect Jake Burger strung together a five-game hit streak to earn the recognition. Burger, whom the White Sox selected in the first round of the 2017 MLB Draft, leads Triple-A Charlotte in a number of offensive categories, including slugging percentage (.542), OPS (.878), extra-base hits (13) and home runs (6).

Shortstop — Romy Gonzalez (Double-A) — 5 G, .250/.400/.438, HR, 3 RBI, 6 R, 3 SB

  • Unranked infielder Romy Gonzalez continued to produce in a number of facets for Double-A Birmingham. The 24-year-old from Miami (FL) delivered his sixth home run of the season Saturday and also posted his second game with multiple stolen bases this season. Gonzalez paces the Barons in OPS (.937) and is tied for the team lead with seven stolen bases.

Outfield — Travis Moniot (Hi-A) — 4 G, .538/.625/1.385, 2 2B, 3 HR, 5 RBI, 6 R

  • Travis Moniot filled up the box score throughout the week and earned a surefire nod as one of three Winston-Salem outfielders to place on this week’s team. The former 17th-round selection out of Arizona logged an astounding 1.385 OPS thanks to a pair of doubles and three home runs. Moniot scored six times for the Dash and contributed five RBI, as well. The 23-year-old is in his first full season at Hi-A.

Outfield — Ian Dawkins (Hi-A) — 6 G, .300/.300/.700, 2B, 3B, HR, 8 RBI, 6 R

  • Ian Dawkins becomes the second Dash outfielder to find his way onto the Team of the Week for this period. The 25-year-old, who began the season with Double-A Birmingham, collected three extra-base hits and eight RBI across six games. Dawkins has reached base in 5 of 6 games since the assignment to Hi-A.

Outfield — Alex Destino (Hi-A) — 6 G, .240/.321/.680, 3B, 3 HR, 4 RBI, 4 R

  • Alex Destino’s two-home run game against Greensboro (PIT) on Friday helped him ascend to the third outfield spot. Destino, 25, homered again two days later. The former South Carolina standout has hit safely in seven of his past 10 games. 

Starting pitcher — Mike Wright Jr. (Triple-A) — W, 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K

  • Right-hander Mike Wright Jr. tossed seven shutout frames to guide Triple-A Charlotte to back-to-back shutouts of Nashville (MIL) over the weekend. The former Oriole and Mariner allowed just two hits and struck out eight to earn his second win of the season. Wright’s dominant outing lowered his season-long WHIP to a sterling 0.90 and opponents own just a .187 clip against him.

Relief pitcher — Jace Fry (Triple-A rehab) — 3 G, 2 HLD, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 3 K

  • White Sox reliever Jace Fry collected a pair of holds and delivered three scoreless appearances to continue his strong rehab work at Triple-A Charlotte. The 27-year-old southpaw is yet to allow a hit or run through five relief outings and has struck out seven batters across five innings.
