Tim Beckham’s monstrous week at Triple-A Charlotte earned him the highlight spot in the FutureSox Team of the Week for the period of June 14-20, 2021, joined by four of the Top 30 prospects in the organization.
Here’s a look at the full lineup:
Catcher — Evan Skoug (Hi-A) — 4 G, .273/.429/.818, 2B, 3B, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R
- Libertyville, Illinois, product Evan Skoug launched his first home run of the season and recorded three extra-base hits in a four-game stretch for Hi-A Winston-Salem to earn the nod at catcher in our MiLB Team of the Week. The former seventh-round pick from TCU collected seven total bases in the Dash’s 3-2 loss to Greensboro (PIT) on Tuesday.
First baseman — Gavin Sheets (Triple-A) — 5 G, .313/.500/.625, 2 2B, HR, 5 RBI, 4 R
- White Sox No. 9 prospect Gavin Sheets continued to produce against Triple-A pitching with a solid .313/.500/.625 slash line in five games against Jacksonville (MIA) this past week. The former 25-year-old first baseman, who received his first MLB call-up in the first week of June, hit safely in four of the five games against the Jumbo Shrimp. He delivered his seventh home run of the season, a solo shot, in a 13-7 win for Charlotte on Saturday.
Second baseman — Bryan Ramos (Low-A) — 6 G, .333/.385/.917, 2 2B, 4 HR, 5 RBI, 6 R
- White Sox No. 13 prospect Bryan Ramos homered four times across a six-game stretch for Low-A Kannapolis to earn a clear-cut spot on this version of the Team of the Week. Ramos, 19, posted a pair of multi-home run games against Down East (TEX) and logged a dynamite 1.301 OPS in the series. His steady production throughout the week helped power the Cannon Ballers to their first series win of the 2021 campaign.
Third baseman — Jake Burger (Triple-A) — 5 G, .381/.409/.857, 2 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 4 R
- White Sox No. 12 prospect Jake Burger logged a standout .381/.409/.857 slash line in Charlotte’s five-game series against Jacksonville (MIA) to receive the nod at third base in our Team of the Week. The former first-round selection also recorded the first start of his professional career at second base, as well, within the past week. Burger hit safely in all five games against the Jumbo Shrimp, which included a pair of multi-hit efforts to close the week.
Shortstop — Tim Beckham (Triple-A) — 5 G, .526/.524/1.526, 2B, 6 HR, 9 RBI, 10 R
- Veteran infielder Tim Beckham’s monstrous week at Triple-A Charlotte highlighted the Team of the Week for this past period of games. Beckham, 31, homered an astounding six times in the Knights’ five-game series against Jacksonville (MIA), which included two multi-home run games. The former Ray, Oriole and Mariner raised his slugging percentage from .375 to .553 throughout the series. Beckham signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox on Feb. 11.
Outfield — Mikie Mahtook (Triple-A) — 4 G, .313/.353/.938, 2B, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 4 R
- Former big-league outfielder Mikie Mahtook posted solid figures across the board in Triple-A Charlotte’s series against Jacksonville (MIA) to earn one of three outfield spots in our Team of the Week. Mahtook, whom the White Sox signed to a minor-league contract Feb. 25, hit safely in all four appearances against the Jumbo Shrimp and went deep three times. His two-home run, five-RBI performance Thursday night guided Charlotte to a 9-3 win Thursday night.
Outfield — Joel Booker (Double-A) — 4 G, .286/.375/.571, 2B, HR, 4 RBI, 2 R
- Former 22nd-round selection Joel Booker belted his first home run of the season Sunday to find the second of three outfield spots in our Team of the Week. Booker, 27, logged a .375 on-base percentage and eight total bases throughout Double-A Birmingham’s series against Mississippi (ATL). Booker began the season at Triple-A Charlotte, but was assigned to Birmingham on May 19.
Outfield — Luis Mieses (Low-A) — 6 G, .462/.462/.692, 3 2B, HR, 4 RBI, 3 R
- White Sox No. 30 prospect Luis Mises recorded four extra-base hits and hit safely in five of six games for Low-A Kannapolis against Down East (TEX) to earn a clear-cut spot on the Team of the Week. Mieses contributed a career-high four hits in the Cannon Ballers’ 9-1 victory Saturday and delivered his fifth home run of the season in Friday’s loss. Mieses owns a .753 OPS and 10 RBI since the White Sox assigned him to Low-A Kannapolis from Hi-A Winston-Salem at the beginning of the month.
Starting pitcher — Jason Bilous (Double-A) — 5.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 9 K, 0 BB
- Jason Bilous spun five no-hit frames with nine punchouts to capture the starting pitcher of the week honor in the White Sox system. Bilous, a 23-year-old right-hander, maintained a 74 percent strike rate in his five innings of work against Mississippi (ATL). It marked his best of five starts at Double-A Birmingham since he earned a promotion to the level May 25. Bilous is a former 13th-round selection out of Coastal Carolina.
Relief pitcher — Martin Carrasco (Low-A) — 2 G, 1 W, 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 6 K, 0 BB
- Right-handed reliever Martin Carrasco fired four scoreless innings and struck out six without walking a batter in Low-A Kannapolis’ series against Down East (TEX). The Tijuana, Mexico, native also earned the win in the Cannon Ballers’ 9-7 victory Tuesday. Carrasco has struggled this season to the tune of an unsightly 6.23 ERA and 1.50 WHIP, but is coming off a strong 2019 campaign in which he logged a 1.23 ERA and 1.02 WHIP between the AZL Padres and Short-Season Tri-City.
