This series will contain weekly recaps of the performances of each minor league affiliate. Here is the latest installment after the ninth week of the minor league season.
Charlotte Knights (25-33)
Weekly Record: 4-2
The Charlotte Knights took on a divisional foe this week in the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, and came away with a series victory. Charlotte won the first four games of the series, before dropping the last two to the Jumbo Shrimp. The Knights currently reside in fifth place and 15 games back in the Triple-A East Southeast Division.
Charlotte hitters complied one of the finer lines in all of the Triple A East this week against Jacksonville pitchers. Knights batters slashed .261/.323/.464, a 787 OPS with 31 runs, 54 hits in 207 at bats, 15 doubles, no triples, nine home runs, 30 RBI, 13 walks to 60 strikeouts, three stolen bases, and were caught stealing once. Knights pitchers had another solid week out on the bump. Charlotte hurlers limited Jacksonville’s opportunities, and finished the series with a team ERA of 3.98, 1.12 WHIP, .204 Batting Average Against, 23 earned runs to 24 runs allowed, 38 hits to 52 innings pitched, 20 walks to 49 strikeouts, six hit batters, and allowed seven home runs. Hot Player of the Week
Nick Williams: Nick Williams had a very good week at the plate for the Knights. In six games, Williams slashed .350/.409/.650 for a 1.059 OPS, scored two runs, hit three doubles, one home run, four RBI, stole one base, and had seven hits in 20 at bats.

Birmingham Barons (31-28)
Weekly Record: 3-3
The Barons are trying to find their winning ways, and took on the scuffling Biloxi Shuckers this week. Unfortunately for Birmingham, they only managed to work a series split against the cellar dweller of the Double-A South. Birmingham is in second place and two games back in the Double-A South North Division.
The Baron hitters bounced back some after a tough previous week. Birmingham batters wrapped their series against Biloxi pitching with a .256/.317/.411 for a 728 OPS, 31 runs, 53 hits in 207 at bats, nine doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 27 RBI, 14 walks to 51 strikeouts, six stolen bases, and were caught stealing four times. Birmingham pitchers bounced back after a tough series the week prior. Shucker batters had their moments, but the Baron pitchers finished the series with a 3.86 Team ERA, 1.17 WHIP, .223 Batting Average Against, 22 earned runs to 23 runs allowed, 42 hits to 51.1 innings pitched, 18 walks to 44 strikeouts, two hit batters, and allowed six home runs. Hot Player of the Week
JJ Muno: JJ Muno had a very productive week for the Barons, and was the teams hottest hitter in his five games this week. The infielder had a .286/.412/.714 slash line, a 1.126 OPS, one double, one triple, one home run, five runs scored, two RBI, one walk to six strikeouts, two stolen bases, and had four hits in 14 at bats.

Winston-Salem Dash (26-34)
Weekly Record: 2-4
The Hickory Crawdads came to town to take on Winston-Salem this week, but it was Eloy Jimenez who grabbed all the attention, as he was officially sent out on a rehab assignment after suffering his pectoral injury during Spring Training, and also homered in his first game. The Dash dropped four of six to the Crawdads, and Winston-Salem is in sixth place in the High-A East South Division and 13 games out of first place.
Dash batters saw some overall improvement from the previous week. Winston-Salem hit Hickory pitchers to a .259/.335/.446 slash line, a 780 OPS, 35 runs scored, 50 hits in 193 at bats, 12 doubles, no triples, eight home runs, 33 RBI, 21 walks to 55 strikeouts, six stolen bases, and were caught stealing twice. Dash pitching kept up with their recent run of ineffectiveness. For the third week in a row, Winston-Salem pitchers just couldn’t get anything going right against Crawdad hitters. Winston-Salem finished the series with a team ERA of 7.76, 1.65 WHIP, .292 Batting Average Against, 44 earned runs to 48 runs allowed, 59 hits to 51 innings pitched, 25 walks to 46 strikeouts, hit seven batters, and allowed 13 home runs. Hot Player of the Week
Alex Destino: Alex Destino was scorching this week, slashing .353/.542/.765 for a 1.306 OPS, two home runs, one double, seven runs scored, four RBI, seven walks to seven strikeouts, and had six hits in 17 at bats.

Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (19-40)
Weekly Record: 3-3
Kannapolis took on fellow Low-A East cellar dwelling Fredericksburg Nationals. Despite the weather not exactly cooperating because of the tropical storm, in what was a pretty even series, the Cannon Ballers eventually came away with a series split. Kannapolis still resides in last place in the Low-A East Central Division and 15 games back of first place.
Cannon Baller hitters had similar production this week, that found them in the the middle of the pack production-wise in the Low-A East. Kannapolis hit FredNats pitchers to a .271/.356/.391 slash line, a 747 OPS, 39 runs, 56 hits in 207 at-bats, 10 doubles, no triples, five home runs, 31 RBI, 20 walks to 56 strikeouts, seven stolen bases, and were caught stealing four times. The Kannapolis pitching staff rebounded after a horrid previous week. Cannon Baller pitching wrapped up their series against Fredericksburg with a team ERA of 4.47, 1.41 WHIP, .263 Batting Average Against, 24 earned runs to 28 runs allowed, 49 hits to 48.1 innings pitched, 19 walks to 33 strikeouts, hit four batters, and allowed four home runs. Hot Player of the Week
Jose Rodriguez: Jose Rodriguez had a fantastic series against FredNats pitchers. The 20-year-old shortstop played in all six games, slashing .370/.414/.630 for a 1.043 OPS, two home runs, one double, six runs scored, seven RBI, two walks to two strikeouts, stole four bases (was not caught stealing), and had 10 hits in 27 at bats.
Honorable Mentions: DJ Gladney, Bryan Ramos, Chase Solesky, and Jesus Valles
ACL White Sox (3-6)
Weekly Record: 1-4
The ACL Sox played five games this week, and came up on the short end four times, seeing their record fall below .500 in the early stages of the season. Full standings of the ACL can be found here.
The ACL White Sox struggled as a group this past week, concluding the five games with a .194/.315/.295 slash line, a 610 OPS, 22 runs, 27 hits in 139 at-bats, seven doubles, two triples, one home run, 16 RBI, 23 walks to 50 strikeouts, and neither attempted nor caught stealing. Similarly to the offense, the ACL White Sox pitchers had a week they’d like to forget. The ACL Sox limped to a team ERA of 8.76, 2.11 WHIP, .335 Batting Average Against, 36 earned runs to 37 runs allowed, 52 hits to 37 innings pitched, 26 walks to 38 strikeouts, hit four batters, and allowed nine home runs. Hot Player of the Week
Benyamin Bailey: After struggling in Kannapolis, Benyamin Bailey is starting to find his way in the ACL. The huge outfielder hit .214/.421/.429 for an 850 OPS, one double, one triple, three RBI, scored four runs, had five walks to five strikeouts, and had 3 hits in 14 ABs.
