Hi-A infielder Luis Curbelo posted a remarkable 1.404 OPS across six games to earn the highlight spot in the FutureSox Team of the Week of the period of July 19-25, 2021. He’s joined by four prospects within the system’s Top 30, including Yolbert Sanchez (No. 16), Lenyn Sosa (No. 22), Micker Adolfo (No. 6) and Luis Mieses (No. 30).

Catcher — Gunnar Troutwine (Hi-A) — 4 G, .294/.333/.471, HR, 4 RBI, 3 R
- Unranked catcher Gunnar Troutwine launched his third home run of the season, a three-run shot, in Winston-Salem’s loss to Jersey Shore (PHI) on Friday and reached base safely in all four of his appearances to earn the spot behind the plate in the FutureSox Team of the Week. The 25-year-old former ninth-round selection has split time between the Dash and Double-A Birmingham this season,
First baseman — Harvin Mendoza (Low-A) — 7 G, .400/.483/.480, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 4 BB, 5 R
- Harvin Mendoza continued to terrorize Low-A pitching with another impressive stretch at the plate. The 22-year-old from Venezuela logged a .400 clip, recorded four RBI and scored five runs across Kannapolis’ seven-game set against Fayetteville (HOU). Mendoza has hit safely in eight of the past nine games and 13 of the past 15 contests. Mendoza owns a .350 clip at the plate in the month of July, as well as eight multi-hit efforts.
Second baseman — Yolbert Sanchez (Double-A) — 5 G, .500/.545/.600, 2 2B, RBI, 5 R
- White Sox No. 16 prospect Yolbert Sanchez impressed in his Double-A debut to earn the spot at second base for the second straight week. Sanchez, 24, collected four hits in Birmingham’s 17-9 win against Chattanooga (CIN) on Wednesday and followed with three more base knocks in a 10-5 victory Thursday night. Sanchez extended his hit streak to seven games and owns a .329/.355/.479 slash line in the month of July.
Third baseman — Luis Curbelo (Hi-A) — 6 G, .462/.481/.923, 3 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 6 R
- Unranked infielder Luis Curbelo posted a monster 1.404 OPS in six games for Hi-A Winston-Salem to highlight the Team of the Week. Curbelo, 23, homered three times, doubled thrice and contributed nine RBI across the six-game set against Jersey Shore (PHI). The former sixth-round pick is in the midst of an eight-game hit streak, which includes five multi-hit performances, and paces the Dash in slugging percentage (.521), OPS (.818), home runs (15), RBI (44), extra-base hits (34) and wRC+ (115).
Shortstop — Lenyn Sosa (Hi-A) — 6 G, .407/.407/.444, 2B, 5 RBI, 4 R
- White Sox No. 22 prospect Lenyn Sosa hit safely in all six contests to extend his hit streak to 10 games and earn the nod at shortstop in the FutureSox Team of the Week. Sosa, 21, logged six hits across the first two games of the series against Jersey Shore (PHI) to help power Hi-A Winston-Salem to 6-0 and 10-4 wins, respectively.
Outfield — Micker Adolfo (Triple-A) — 5 G, .316/.350/.737, 2 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 5 R
- White Sox No. 6 prospect Micker Adolfo, who earned his first promotion to Triple-A on Wednesday, made his mark with a two-homer game Sunday to earn the first of three outfield spots. Adolfo, 24, owns a career-high .865 OPS this season and his 17th deep fly of the season marked a new single-season high. Adolfo holds a dynamite .947 OPS with six home runs and 25 RBI across his past 20 games.
Outfield — Tyler Neslony (Double-A) — 5 G, .476/.500/.762, 4 2B, 3B, 9 RBI, 4 R
- Recently-acquired outfielder Tyler Neslony impressed in his second week with Double-A Birmingham and recorded five extra-base hits and nine RBI for the Barons in their series against Chattanooga (CIN). Neslony, whom the White Sox snagged from the Atlanta Braves on July 11, has hit safely in five of the past six games, which includes three separate three-hit efforts.
Outfield — Luis Mieses (Low-A) — 7 G, .333/.419/.519, 2 2B, HR, 8 RBI, 4 BB, 3 R
- White Sox No. 30 prospect Luis Mieses contributed eight RBI to pace Low-A Kannapolis in its series against Fayetteville (HOU). The 21-year-old outfielder matched his career-high with four hits in Saturday’s 7-1 win for the Cannon Ballers. Mieses owns a 116 wRC+ with Kannapolis this season, and a 157 mark over the past week.
Starting pitcher — Mike Wright Jr. (Triple-A) — W, 5.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K
- Veteran right-hander Mike Wright Jr. continued to provide a steady presence for Triple-A Charlotte with 5.2 innings of two-hit ball in the Knights’ 4-0 win Friday night. Wright, who struck out seven in the combined shutout, is yet to allow more than four runs in a start this season (13 starts). The 31-year-old former Oriole and Mariner paces Charlotte in a number of categories, including wins (6), ERA (3.09), WHIP (1.00) opposing batting average (.189) and quality starts (7).
Relief pitcher — Andrew Perez (Double-A) — 2 G, HLD, 3.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K
- Double-A southpaw Andrew Perez collected a hold and struck out seven across 3.2 scoreless frames to earn the highlight spot in the bullpen in the FutureSox Team of the Week. Perez, 24, owns a stellar 13.86 K/9 rate this season. The former eighth-round selection out of South Florida has eight holds and four saves over the past two seasons.
