Catcher — Daniel Millwee (Low-A) — 2 G, .667/.875/.667, RBI, 4 BB, SB
- Low-A catcher Daniel Millwee returned from the injured list and reached base in six of his seven plate appearances in Kannapolis’ series against Carolina (MIL). The 26-year-old backstop has drawn at least one walk in six of his past seven games dating back to June 25.
First baseman — Harvin Mendoza (Low-A) — 6 G, .320/.357/.320, 5 RBI, 2 BB
- Unranked first baseman Harvin Mendoza recorded at least one hit in all six games for Low-A Kannapolis against Carolina (MIL) to earn the weekly recognition at first base. Mendoza, who holds a 127 wRC+ with the Cannon Ballers this season, has hit safely in 19 of the past 21 games.
Second baseman — Bryan Ramos (Low-A) — 6 G, .391/.464/.522, 3 2B, 2 RBI, R
- White Sox No. 12 prospect Bryan Ramos extended his hit streak to eight games with an impressive showing in Low-A Kannapolis’ series against Carolina (MIL). Ramos, who owns a standout .405/.469/.476 slash line across his past 11 games, doubled three times in the series. The 19-year-old infielder’s 29 extra-base hits and 127 total bases this season rank fifth in the Low-A East Division.
Third baseman — Wilfred Veras (ROK) — 5 G, .412/.474/.765, 2B, 3B, HR, 5 RBI, 2 R, SB
- Wilfred Veras hit for the cycle in a 14-8 slugfest against the ACL Cubs to earn the nod at third base in the FutureSox Team of the Week. The 18-year-old from the Dominican Republic hit safely in four of the five games throughout the week and also swiped his second base of the summer. The White Sox signed Veras as part of the international signing period in July 2019.
Shortstop — Lenyn Sosa (Hi-A) — 6 G, .348/.444/.565, 2 2B, HR, 6 RBI, 6 R
- White Sox No. 21 prospect Lenyn Sosa hit safely in five of the six games for Hi-A Winston-Salem against Asheville (HOU) to extend his offensive surge. The 21-year-old shortstop posted three multi-hit games in the series and contributed at least one RBI in each of the final four meetings. Sosa has reached base safely in 20 of the past 22 games and owns a .333/.374/.462 slash line in that stretch.
Outfield — Tyler Neslony (Double-A) — 4 G, .333/.500/.833, 3 2B, HR, 4 RBI, 2 R
- Double-A outfielder Tyler Neslony continued to produce with his new club to the tune of four extra-base hits and four RBI in four games for Birmingham in its series against Mississippi (ATL). Neslony, whom the White Sox acquired from the Atlanta Braves on July 11, owns a remarkable .407/.500/.797 slash line in 18 games since joining the organization and has hit safely in 13 of the past 15 contests. He delivered the first grand slam of his career in Thursday’s 7-2 victory.
Outfield — Ian Dawkins (Double-A) — 5 G, .421/.450/.632, 2 2B, 3B, RBI, 2 R, 2 SB
- Unranked outfielder Ian Dawkins filled the box score for Double-A Birmingham in its series against Mississippi (ATL) to earn the second of three outfield spots in the FutureSox Team of the Week. Dawkins, 26, is in the midst of an 11-game hit streak, which includes five multi-hit performances. The former 27th-round selection out of Sacramento State also swiped a pair of bases to bring his season total to nine. Dawkins stole 37 bases in his first two years with the organization.
Outfield — Luis Mieses (Hi-A) — 6 G, .391/.440/.696, 4 2B, HR, 7 RBI, 3 R
- White Sox No. 30 prospect Luis Mieses posted a 1.136 OPS across six games to help power Hi-A Winston-Salem’s offense in a series split against Asheville (HOU). Mieses, who contributed four multi-hit efforts in the six-game set, recorded five extra-base knocks. He delivered his career-high 10th home run of the season as part of Sunday’s doubleheader, and holds a dynamite .393/.417/.625 slash line in his past 14 games.
Starting pitcher — Emilio Vargas (Double-A) — W, 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 12 K
- Emilio Vargas struck out 12 batters across five innings of work as part of a dominant showing for Double-A Birmingham’s pitching staff in a 7-2 win against Mississippi (ATL) on Thursday. The 12 punchouts for Vargas fell one short of his personal career-high, and the 19 collective strikeouts for the Barons fell one short of the franchise’s single-game record of 20 set by Scott Ruffcorn and Jeff Pearce against Chattanooga in 1993. Vargas, a 24-year-old right-hander, owns a standout 0.93 ERA since June 24 (29.0 IP).
Relief pitcher — Zach Muckenhirn (Double-A) — 2 G, 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K
- Double-A reliever Zach Muckenhirn worked four scoreless frames in two appearances and struck out five batters to earn the Reliever of the Week honor. The 26-year-old southpaw, whom the White Sox signed to a minor-league contract May 1, has allowed just one run across his past 13 relief outings (19.2 IP).
