This series will contain weekly recaps of the performances of each minor league affiliate. Here is the latest installment after the seventeenth week of the minor league season.

Charlotte Knights (42-66)

Weekly Record: 4-3

Charlotte traveled up to Norfolk for a seven game series this week (one was a makeup game from May). The Knights were able to secure a series win against their divisional counterparts, winning four out of seven. Charlotte is in seventh place and 26.5 games back in the Triple-A East Southeast Division.

Charlotte’s offensive performance was nothing to write home about this week. Knights hitters slashed .203/.250/.309 for a 559 OPS, 19 runs scored, 44 hits in 217 at bats, five doubles, no triples, six home runs, 17 RBI, 10 walks to 51 strikeouts, five stolen bases, and weren’t caught stealing. Complete season totals for the Knights offense can be found here.

While Charlotte’s offense struggled, their pitching staff was the polar opposite. Things did not go particularly well for the Barons, as they dropped five of seven to the Chattanooga Lookouts. Birmingham is now tied for first place with the Rocket City Trash Pandas in the Double-A South North Division.
