Yoelqui Cespedes filled the box score, while Jose Rodriguez continued to shine in Winston-Salem, and both Top 10 prospects earned highlight spots in the FutureSox Team of the Week.
Here’s a look at the full lineup for the period of Sept. 6-12:
Catcher — Carlos Perez (Double-A) — 6 G, .346/.370/.808, 3 2B, 3 HR, 8 RBI, 7 R
- Double-A catcher Carlos Perez delivered six extra-base hits with eight RBI in Birmingham’s six-game sweep against Rocket City (LAA) to earn a definitive spot in the FutureSox Team of the Week. The 25-year-old Venezuelan backstop punctuated his stellar week with a two-homer, five-RBI performance Sunday afternoon. Perez, who paces the Barons with 59 RBI this season, owns a dynamic .370/.382/.685 slash line in the month of September and has hit safely in 13 of the past 15 games.
First baseman — Harvin Mendoza (Hi-A) — 6 G, .400/.478/.600, 2B, HR, 5 RBI, 4 R
- Unranked first baseman Harvin Mendoza produced another strong stretch at Hi-A Winston-Salem with three multi-hit efforts over the past week. Mendoza, 22, launched his fifth home run of the season as part of a three-hit night Tuesday, and he holds a .308 clip at the plate in 18 games since he earned a promotion back to the Dash on Aug. 24.
Second baseman — Bryan Ramos (Low-A) — 6 G, .286/.444/.524, 2 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 6 R, SB
- White Sox No. 11 prospect Bryan Ramos posted a .444 OBP in Low-A Kannapolis’ series against Fayetteville (HOU) to earn the nod at second base for the second straight week. The 19-year-old infielder recorded three multi-hit efforts in the final five games of the series and logged his team-leading 23rd double of the season in Sunday’s 6-2 win. Ramos owns an impressive .895 OPS in the month of September.
Third baseman — Wilfred Veras (ROK, ACL) — 4 G, .500/.467/.786, 2B, HR, 5 RBI, 5 R
- White Sox No. 30 prospect Wilfred Veras continued to showcase his talent in Arizona as the 18-year-old infielder recorded seven hits in a four-game stretch for the ACL White Sox. Veras, whom the White Sox signed in July 2019, collected four hits and eight total bases in a 10-3 win Friday, and owns a .318/.333/.500 slash line in the month of September. He holds a standout .912 OPS in his first season stateside (42 games).
Shortstop — Jose Rodriguez (Hi-A) — 6 G, .321/.321/.607, 3B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 5 R, 3 SB
- White Sox No. 10 prospect Jose Rodriguez put together another strong week in multiple facets to collect another weekly honor at shortstop. The 20-year-old middle infielder extended his hit streak to 13 games, which includes eight multi-hit efforts. He also swiped three bases to bring his season-long total to 30 stolen bases. Rodriguez has torched Hi-A pitching in his first go-around at the level to the tune of a .361/.381/.538 slash line in 29 games.
Outfield — Craig Dedelow (Double-A) — 5 G, .400/.526/1.000, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 4 BB, 7 R
- Double-A outfielder Craig Dedelow produced three multi-hit efforts, which included his second-career multi-homer game, to lock in a spot on the FutureSox Team of the Week. Dedelow recorded a dynamic 1.526 OPS throughout the week, and his strong performance at the plate helped guide Birmingham to a crucial six-game sweep of Rocket City (LAA).
Outfield — Yoelqui Cespedes (Double-A) — 5 G, .563/.611/.750, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI, 3 R, 4 SB
- White Sox No. 2 prospect Yoelqui Cespedes filled the box score for Double-A Birmingham with hits in all five games, including a pair of extra-base knocks, and four stolen bases. The 23-year-old outfielder posted consecutive three-hit games Wednesday and Thursday and owns a .324/.390/.405 slash line since the start of September. Cespedes holds a 78 percent success rate on the basepaths this season (18-for-23), and Thursday’s game marked his third time this season with multiple stolen bases.
Outfield — Chase Krogman (Low-A) — 6 G, .350/.417/.700, 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 3 R, SB
- White Sox No. 26 prospect Chase Krogman hit safely in each of the final five games of Low-A Kannapolis’ series against Fayetteville, which included home runs in back-to-back contests. It marked the third time this season in which the 20-year-old outfielder homered in consecutive games. The five-game hit streak helped Krogman snap an unsightly 1-for-28 stretch in his previous nine games.
Starting pitcher — Alex McRae (Triple-A) — 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
- Right-hander Alex McRae tossed five innings of two-hit ball with six strikeouts to collect the Pitcher of the Week honor. McRae, who made two relief appearances with the big-league club this season, settled for a no-decision despite the steady outing. The six punchouts marked his most in a start since July 27.
Relief pitcher — Peter Tago (Triple-A) — 3 G, W, 4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
- Right-handed reliever Peter Tago worked four scoreless frames across three appearances and struck out seven to earn the Reliever of the Week honor. Tago, 29, allowed just one baserunner in the three outings and continued to impress in his introduction to Triple-A. A former selection of the Colorado Rockies, Tago owns a 10.49 K/9 rate this season, which marks his first in the White Sox organization. He has not allowed a run in his last eight appearances (14.0 IP).
