Honestly at this point I would prep Crochet for the rotation. It may take him longer to come back this year but he’ll ultimately be ahead of the game as that’s his likely destination anyhow.
If they prep him as a starter you’re looking more to a July return which aligns better with trade season and the brutal schedule we have in July.
To me, the decision to wait to pitch Noah Schultz until summer is very risky. If he gets a significant injury after pitching, then it will be a second straight lost season in terms of building up his workload. Whereas if he pitched in the first half and got injured, he could possibly come back later in the season.
