Trending on the Farm: Noah Schultz continues to impress

Noah Schultz

Noah Schultz was simply outstanding again, dominating the Down East Wood Ducks in his three innings of work. Baseball America’s Josh Norris was in attendance and raved about Schultz’s stuff, even calling it, “nastier than a frat house fridge“.

Colson Montgomery & Norge Vera

Both players are on the ACL White Sox roster and haven’t played since the season started two weeks ago. Hopefully an update will be provided in short order because them being assigned and not playing for two weeks seems strange but also very White Sox.

Peyton Pallette & Sean Burke

Neither Peyton Pallette nor Sean Burke made appearances last week, but as of this writing weren’t placed on the IL.

Oscar Colás

Oscar Colás improved from the previous week’s performance, although the total line isn’t all that sexy. Even still, it’s a trend in the right direction with a better display of power last week from the 24 year old.

Bryan Ramos

Bryan Ramos is another case of trending up with numbers not being what you’d typically expect on a player with a positive trend. Ramos was making harder and louder contact last week and is moving the needle in the right direction after having the start of his season delayed due to injury.

Cristian Mena

Cristian Mena had another solid start for the Barons, stringing together back to back strong starts. Mena was back to striking guys out while limiting free passes, which tends to be a good combination for the 20 year old righty.

José Rodriguez

José Rodriguez swung a hot bat last week, homering and doubling twice. After starting the season in a funk, Rodriguez has been heating up for the last month by batting .302/.330/.558 for an .888 OPS, a 132 wRC+, and a .256 ISO since May 16. Rodriguez is also reportedly set to join the White Sox on Monday in what would be his first major league callup.

Victor Reyes & Erik Gonzalez

Victor Reyes was crushing baseballs against the Durham Bulls last week, batting .407/.379/.926 for a 1.305 OPS, scoring eight runs with six extra base hits (two doubles, four home runs) and nine RBI.

Erik Gonzalez tried his best to keep up with Reyes by slashing .381/.480/.667 for a 1.147 OPS, scoring four runs and knocking two home runs while driving in seven.

Edgar Navarro

Once again, Edgar Navarro pitched well in both of his relief appearances for the Knights. The 25 year old right hander threw three innings allowing one hit and one walk while striking out five.

Jonah Scolaro

24 year old southpaw Jonah Scolaro pitched great in both of his appearances for the Barons, throwing four innings allowing just one walk but struck out six Smokies.

Taishi Nakawake & Terrell Tatum

Taishi Nakawake made a good deal of solid contact for the Dash last week, slashing .353/.421/.529 with a .950 OPS and homering once.

Terrell Tatum was right there with Nakawake, slashing .263/.348/.579 for a .927 OPS with three extra base hits (one double, triple, and home run) while going 2-for-3 on stolen bases.

Jared Kelley

Jared Kelley was brilliant in the piggyback role yet again. Since shifting into this role, the 21 year old righty has thrown 14.2 innings across four appearances with a 0.61 ERA, a 0.68 WHIP, allowed seven walks while striking out 22 (13.5 K/9) and a 2.19 FIP.

Kohl Simas

23 year old Kohl Simas threw the ball well in both of his starts this week, throwing a total of 11.1 innings allowing four runs (four earned [two in each start]), nine hits, no walks, and struck out 18 Asheville Tourists.

Wilber Sanchez

21 year old infielder Wilber Sanchez played in all seven of the Cannon Ballers games against the Down East Wood Ducks last week and slashed .364/.440/.636 for a 1.076 OPS with five runs scored, four extra base hits (three doubles, one home run), six RBI, and went 4-for-4 on stolen bases.

Tanner Mcdougal & Shane Murphy

20 year old righty Tanner McDougal threw the ball quite well in his start against Down East, pitching three and two thirds innings while allowing one hit, one walk, no runs, while striking out eight Wood Ducks hitters.

22 year old lefty Shane Murphy had a typical strong outing for Kannapolis, throwing four innings allowing two hits and two walks, no runs, and struck out six.

Matt Archer

22 year old infielder Matt Archer performed well for the ACL White Sox, batting .385/.529/.538 for a 1.067 OPS with two doubles and two stolen bases.

Gabriel Rodriguez

19 year old Venezuelan right hander Gabriel Rodriguez threw the ball well in his lone appearance for the ACL White Sox, pitching five innings allowing four hits, one walk, no runs, and struck out six hitters.

Javier Mogollon

17 year old infielder Javier Mogollon had a great deal of success at the plate for the DSL White Sox, batting .533/.632/.733 for a 1.365 OPS with four RBI and two extra base hits in five games.

Adrian Gil

17 year old infielder Adrian Gil was another member of the DSL White Sox that had a successful week at the plate, slashing .417/.611/.500 for a 1.111 OPS with three RBI and a double in five games.

Stiven Flores

17 year old catcher Stiven Flores had another strong week, batting .455/.538/.636 for a 1.174 OPS with five RBI and two doubles in three games.

Denny Lima

18 year old righty Denny Lima had a solid start for the DSL White Sox last week, throwing five innings allowing four hits, one run (one earned), no walks, and struck out six.
