NOTE: This piece will focus on players that are currently in the minor leagues. DSL stats for this week will be from June 26 through July 2, as some of the full season affiliates didn’t complete their series until Monday.

Colson Montgomery

In the second week of his rehab assignment, Colson Montgomery is proving that the ACL is no match for his skillset. Montgomery displayed his patient approach, walking four times while striking out just once. He also hit his first home run of the season and went 2-for-2 on stolen bases. The 2021 first rounder played four of five games in the field last week, so maybe a return to a full season affiliate is just around the corner.

Peyton Pallette

The first three batters all reached base and scored against Peyton Pallete (single, double, home run), but the righty settled down after. Pallette allowed just one hit and struck out six from that point on, but the final line doesn’t look pretty due to the beginning of the outing.

Norge Vera

Has anyone seen Norge Vera?

Cristian Mena

Cristian Mena’s rough fourth inning cut short what was shaping up to be a solid outing. Mena allowed five baserunners and three runs in the fourth before getting pulled. He sports a 5.53 ERA across 15 double-A starts this season.

Lenyn Sosa & Bryan Ramos

After not striking out at all in the previous weeks worth of games, Lenyn Sosa had seven strikeouts and no walks against a tough Norfolk Tides pitching staff.

The power wasn’t there for Bryan Ramos last week, but it was still a productive showing nonetheless. Ramos had six hits across 17 at-bats and ultimately reached base nine times in four games of work.

José Rodríguez

After being promoted to the White Sox and riding the pine during the previous week, the inactivity didn’t seem to have any ill-effect on JosĂ© RodrĂguez. Popeye returned to the Barons and picked up right where he left off, knocking seven hits in 16 at-bats while going 3-for-3 in stolen bases.

Óscar Colás

In the previous week, the power started popping back in late for Óscar Colás. Last week against Norfolk the power showed up in a big way throughout the entire series. Colás smashed five extra base hits across five games and is set to rejoin the White Sox.

Noah Schultz

Noah Schultz returned to action on Sunday afternoon after missing last weeks start due to an illness. Unfortunately for Schultz, his start was cut short due to rain, but the 19 year old has now made it three consecutive starts (seven innings pitched) without allowing a hit.

Best of the Rest

AAA (CharlottE)

Victor Reyes

Victor Reyes had a nice week against Norfolk, slashing .294/.400/.529 for a .929 OPS with two extra base hits (double, home run) and four RBI.

Sammy Peralta

Sammy Peralta pitched well in a starting role, going four innings allowing two hits, one walk, and struck out three Tides.

AA (birmingham)

Luis Mieses

Nobody in the White Sox system was hotter than Luis Mieses last week. The 23 year old slashed .478/.500/1.087 for a 1.587 OPS with six extra base hits (two doubles, four home runs) and drove in nine. After only homering twice in the first 63 games in AA this year, Mieses doubled that total in five games at cavernous Regions Field.

Chris Shaw & Terrell Tatum

29 year old journeyman Chris Shaw had a great power week for the Barons, knocking three extra base hits (double, two home runs) and seven RBI in 15 at-bats.

Terrell Tatum made his AA debut and continued to set the tone atop the order. The 23 year old slashed .381/.519/.571 for a 1.090 OPS with two extra base hits (double, home run), scored seven runs and went 2-for-2 on stolen bases.

YoelvĂn Silven

24 year old righty YoelvĂn Silven had a nice week out of the bullpen for the Barons. In two appearances, Silven threw four and a third innings allowing three hits, one run (earned), but struck out seven.

Matthew thompson

Matthew Thompson finished the month of June strong. The 22 year old righty only walked nine across five starts and 25 innings pitched in the month. Thompson also had a 1.32 WHIP for the month, which was down quite a bit from his April and May WHIP totals (1.55 and 1.99 respectively).

A+ (Winston-Salem)

Wes kath

Wes Kath was feeling the extra base hits against Aberdeen. The 20 year old third baseman hit a triple and two home runs en route to a 1.056 OPS for the week.

Kohl Simas

Kohl Simas rebounded nicely after a rough previous start. The 23 year old right hander threw five innings allowing four hits, one run (unearned), walked three, and struck out eight IronBirds.

Tim Elko & Jacob burke

Tim Elko picked up right where he left off, now being an imposing presence in the Dash lineup. In six games, Elko slashed .286/.385/.619 for a 1.004 OPS with two doubles, one triple, and one home run.

Similar to Elko, Jacob Burke also had a great debut week for the Dash. Through five games, Burke slashed .400/.455/.450 for a .905 OPS with a double and went a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen bases.

A (Kannapolis)

Mason Adams

Following Noah Schultz after his outing was cut short by rain, Mason Adams decimated the Fayetteville lineup. As you may be able to tell from the stats, the highlights of him mowing down the Peckers is a fun watch. In his last two appearances, Adams has thrown a total of 12 innings allowing seven hits, one run (earned), walked none, and struck out 16.

Ben Beutel & Drew McDaniel

23 year old lefty Ben Beutel was excellent out of the bullpen for the Ballers. In two appearances, Beutel threw four and a third innings allowing four hits but struck out seven.

Drew McDaniel was outstanding in his start against Fayetteville. The 22 year old righty threw six innings, allowed only two hits and struck out five Peckers.

Drake Logan

22 year old infielder Drake Logan was impressive for the Cannon Ballers last week. Logan hit two home runs and had a 1.122 OPS in six games.

ROOKIE (ACL & DSL)

Carlos Jiménez & ryan Burrowes

21 year old first baseman Carlos Jiménez had a solid week for the ACL White Sox, outputting a .978 OPS with two doubles and a home run.

Once again, Ryan Burrowes had another strong week for the ACL White Sox. The 18 year old had four extra base hits (three doubles, one triple) and a 1.141 OPS in four games.

Ricardo Brizuela

20 year old Ricardo Brizuela had a very solid outing for the ACL White Sox. The righty threw five innings and allowed four hits, two runs (one earned), walked one, and struck out seven.

Adrian Gil

17 year old infielder Adrian Gil led the charge for the DSL White Sox, slashing .462/.588/.538 for a 1.126 OPS with a double and two stolen bases.

Oscar Hernandez

17 year old righty Oscar Hernandez made the most of both of his appearances last week. Hernandez threw two and two thirds innings allowing one hit, struck out four, and picked up a save.

    1. I’m glad he’s playing as we know a call up usually means a bench seat game 1
