Out of catastrophe comes a bit o` hope. I’ll give Hahn credit for strengthening the franchise with a very poor hand.
Why the degree of suckitude this year is a separate topic. We’ll have fun dissecting that, I know.
Adding 4-5 quality prospects for some stale big leaguers is a surprising but happy result. We all know prospects fail, but the more you have, the better your odds. Sadly, we had to trade Giolito and Lopez due to their impending free agency. Maybe we can sign them this winter!
I hope we add from this point on. Anything like a teardown would be rotten. We can argue about Moncada, Grandal, Etc., for ever. I believe Reinsdorf will not approve a rebuild, so I say adding on makes the most sense…….let the Soto Dream commence.
Hahn can trade MLB talent for guys that the industry likes in some way, shape or form. He has done better than i expected, by industry standards.
This is what he did in the full tear-down and rebuild.
His other talent is signing young players to extensions.
Evaluating and developing talent himself, not listed.
