Colson Montgomery
Colson Montgomery missed the first two games due to an illness, but once he returned he was back to typical Colson things. Montgomery reached base safely at least once in every game this series and had a big performance on Saturday night by going 3-5 with two extra base hits (double, triple). Fun fact, Colson didn’t get hit by any pitches last week!
JONATHAN CANNON
Jonathan Cannon’s strong August continued, as he generated six ground outs to just one flyout in this outing. In three August starts, the 23 year old has thrown 15 innings, allowed 12 hits, four runs (four earned), struck out 13 to just one walk.
Cristian Mena
In addition to Cannon, Cristian Mena is also having a very strong August. In three starts, the 20 year old righty has pitched 18.2 innings, allowed 15 hits, six runs (six earned), six walks, and struck out 20. Mena also leads the Barons in innings pitched with 108.
PEYTON PALLETTE
It was a weird but effective start for Peyton Pallette. It began with striking out the first two batters, walking the next, then a strike out looking. An 8-2 double play made the second inning interesting, but the third was uneventful outside of a walk. A single, walk, force-out, and another walk saw Pallette leave after three and two thirds, but the runners were left stranded.
Norge Vera
Norge Vera started and pitched in two innings in his final ACL tune-up before being promoted back to Winston-Salem on August 21.
Noah Schultz
Noah Schultz was scratched from his start on Sunday and placed on the 7-day IL with a shoulder impingement. While it may end his season with Kannapolis (only three weeks left in the season), the injury isn’t considered to be a long-term issue.
José Rodríguez
It was a week to forget for José Rodríguez at the dish. Popeye couldn’t generate much offense against Chattanooga pitchers while striking out seven times, although he went 3-for-3 on stolen bases.
Lenyn Sosa
Lenyn Sosa played two games with the Knights before being recalled by the White Sox on August 18.
Bryan Ramos
Bryan Ramos had a successful week at the plate, although the power quieted down from the previous week, as all seven of his hits were singles.

Xavier Fernández was another Knight to swing a hot bat, ending the week with a 1.144 OPS across 15 at-bats.
Yolbert Sánchez & Sammy Peralta
Yolbert Sánchez also had a strong week offensively against the Nashville Sounds. Sánchez had four extra base hits (two doubles, triple, home run) and seven driven in for a .985 OPS across six games.

23 year old infielder Shawn Goosenberg was another member of the Dash offense that was on fire. Goosenberg had three extra base hits (two doubles, home run) and had a .522/.593/.739 slash line for a 1.332 OPS.

Jacob Gonzalez
2023 first round selection Jacob Gonzalez had his best week as a member of the Cannon Ballers. Gonzalez slashed .333/.391/.524 for a .915 OPS with two extra base hits (double, home run) and three RBI. The home run was the first as a professional for the young shortstop.
Aldrin Batista
20 year old right hander Aldrin Batista pitched well in his start against the Carolina Mudcats. Batista threw five scoreless innings, allowing three hits, two walks, and struck out four.
Manuel Veloz
22 year old righty pitched well in his relief appearance for the Ballers. In somewhat of a strange looking line, Veloz pitched four and a third innings without allowing a hit or run, didn’t record a strikeout, but walked two batters.
ROOKIE (ACL & DSL)
Edrick Felix & Carlos Jiménez
Edrick Felix had another nice week for the ACL White Sox, homering one and driving in three while appearing in three games.
21 year old Carlos Jiménez also had a nice week, hitting one home run, drove in three, and went 2-for-2 on stolen bases in two games.

Seth Keener
2023 third round pick Seth Keener was rather effective in his lone appearance of the week. The 21 year old has only allowed one run and struck out seven across four appearances (six innings) with the ACL White Sox.
Christian Oppor
2023 fifth round pick Christian Oppor was fantastic in his lone appearance of the week with the ACL White Sox. The 19 year old southpaw worked two scoreless innings, allowing no baserunners and striking out two.

Of his seven total hits, five went for extra bases (two doubles, triple, two home runs) while also driving in six runs. Mogollon also scored five runs and was successful on his only stolen base attempt last week. For the season, the Venezuelan native is up to a .967 OPS with eight home runs in 45 games (159 at-bats).
Abraham Nunez
17 year old outfielder Abraham Nunez was the other stand out offensive player for the DSL White Sox last week. Nunez had a 1.071 OPS in four games (14 at-bats) with two doubles, four driven in, and was successful on his only stolen base attempt.

18 year old righty Denny Lima had a solid start for the DSL White Sox. Lima threw four scoreless innings, allowed three hits, and struck out two.
Will Wolkow start in the ACL next year and then get promoted to Kannapolis? Or will he start in Kannapolis?
Unless he falls apart in the next couple weeks I would expect him in Kanny.
I think there’s a good chance he returns to the ACL. Today is the last game. Though his first PA today he has a 36% strikeout rate.
Edit: should say 35%
Honestly not bad, considering he’s 17 and not used to even high level travel ball talent.
Idk, Montgomery, Kath, Gladney, Gonzalez, Beard, and Bryce Bush of the recent HSers all went to A ball and Kath had a 40% K rate.
I didn’t realize they were done today. They do run their extended season for a while though so…I guess it depends how they see things. You may be right though, I just hope its a new regime doing the evaluating.
Can’t believe I got my new regime wish within hours of posting. Looking forward to see what the new regime has in store.
Winston-Salem is in Bowling Green this week, so I’m looking forward to seeing what Baldwin is all about.
