Colson Montgomery

The AA regular season concluded on Sunday, and Colson Montgomery ended his season on a high note. The 21 year old walked more (three) than he struck out (two) last week while repeatedly turning on balls and blasting them across the field. While the top prospect’s sesason didn’t begin until June 19 due to injury, Montgomery in 64 total games played between the ACL (10), Winston-Salem (17), and Birmingham (37) had a .287/.455/.484 slash line with a .939 OPS, 25 extra base hits (14 doubles, three triples, eight home runs), and 56 walks to 56 strikeouts. In Birmingham, Montgomery slashed .244/.400/.427 with an .827 OPS, 14 extra base hits (eight doubles, two triples, four home runs), and 25 walks to 36 strikeouts. Montgomery will also participate in the Arizona Fall League in October.

Bryan Ramos

Bryan Ramos had a stellar week to cap off the regular season for the Barons. Similar to Colson Montgomoery, Ramos walked more (four) than he struck out (three) while also knocking three extra base hits in five games. Ramos’ season was also delayed by injury, but the 21 year old’s campaign began on May 23 and between 81 games in Kannapolis (four) and Birmingham (77), he produced a .264/.358/.450 slash line with an .808 OPS, 26 extra base hits (10 doubles, one triple, 15 home runs), and 38 walks to 79 strikeouts. In Birmingham, the third baseman hit .271/.369/.457 with an .826 OPS, 25 extra base hits (10 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs), and 38 walks to 75 strikeouts. Ramos is expected to join Montgomery in the Arizona Fall League in October.

Edgar Quero

Edgar Quero had a tough week in Chattanooga, but on the whole had a successful season in what was an aggressive assignment for the 20 year old catcher. In 101 AA games, Quero slashed .255/.380/.351 for a .731 OPS, 23 extra base hits (17 doubles, six home runs), and 72 walks to 76 strikeouts. In 31 games with the Barons after being acquired from the Angels organization, the catcher hit .277/.366/.393 for a .759 OPS, seven extra base hits (four doubles, three home runs), and 17 walks to 23 strikeouts.

José Rodríguez

José Rodríguez clubbed his first two AAA home runs on Sunday night, as he appears to be starting to adjust to the new level of competition.

Nick Nastrini

Nick Nastrini had a couple of tough innings in his latest start against Nashville, allowing three runs in the second and three in the fourth, but was rather impressive in the four other frames allowing three total baserunners (two walks, single).

Cristian Mena

Cristian Mena was able to limit the damage against him despite issuing too many free passes in his latest AAA outing against Nashville, which subsequently cut his start short.
