Colson Montgomery
The second week of the AFL season was much friendlier to Colson Montgomery than the first. The 21 year old shortstop put his power on display later in the week, knocking four extra base hits, three of which were home runs. Montgomery mentioned in a recent interview that the first week was a bit of an adjustment period for him as he was trying to get back into the groove after a couple weeks off from the AA season ending.
Bryan Ramos
Bryan Ramos is still in a funk at the plate, as he managed three hits in 20 at-bats last week. Despite the offense lacking, the 21 year old third baseman has compiled some solid defensive performances for Glendale in the early going.
Jacob Burke
The second week of the AFL season was also much kinder to Jacob Burke. The 22 year old center fielder knocked six hits in 21 at-bats while also being successful on his lone stolen base attempt.
Jake Eder
Jake Eder was given the tough task of facing the hottest lineup in the AFL, the Peoria Javelinas, last week. The recently turned 25 year old (happy belated birthday Jake!) limited the damage despite being quite hittable in his limited work. If you want to see how the rest of the pitchers fared in his start, click here at your own risk.
Jordan Leasure
25 year old Jordan Leasure made one spotless appearance last week against Scottsdale and has pitched rather well out of the bullpen for the Desert Dogs through the first two weeks of the AFL season.
Josimar Cousin
25 year old righty Josimar Cousin had a better performance against Scottsdale last week, but has still been a bit hittable in the early portion of the AFL season, sporting a 2.20 WHIP through his first two appearances with just one strikeout (five innings).
Fraser Ellard
After a strong opening week, 25 year old southpaw Fraser Ellard only made one appearance last week and got knocked around by the Scottsdale Scorpions.
Adisyn Coffey
Adisyn Coffey made two appearances last week for the Desert Dogs. The 24 year old right hander got torched by the Peoria Javelinas (0.1 IP, 4R [4 ER], 4 BB), but pitched better against Salt River, allowing a solo home run but struck out two batters in his inning of work.
Getz needs to get Colson up to the Sox, and replace TA in the starting lineup, asap!
