Top of the Crop (Trending on the Farm)
NOTE: This piece will focus on players that are trending on the farm currently in the minor leagues. Jonathan Cannon and Dominic Fletcher are omitted since they‘re with the White Sox (Fletcher has also exceeded rookie status). The “Top of the Crop” portion was determined prior to the Dylan Cease trade, hence why Drew Thorpe, Samuel Zavala, and Jairo Iriarte are all omitted.

Noah Schultz – MLB Pipeline White Sox #2
A rainout on Saturday bumped Noah Schultz’s start back a day, and a tough first yielded all the (minimal) damage done. Schultz threw 67% of his pitches for strikes and went his typical four innings in this start. In four AA starts, the 20-year-old has yet to issue a walk and has 21 punchouts in 15.2 innings. In 70 total career innings, Schultz has only walked 13 batters to 101 strikeouts.
Grant Taylor – MLB Pipeline White Sox #13

Jacob Gonzalez – MLB Pipeline White Sox #7
In what was a slow week collectively for the Barons offense, Jacob Gonzalez was one of two standouts. Gonzalez continues to build upon his resurgent 2024 after a tough draft year debut and now has a .377 OBP in AA in 25 games and even went 3-for-3 in stolen bases last week.
Edgar Quero – MLB Pipeline White Sox #4
After a scorching hot previous week, Edgar Quero cooled off against Pensacola. After only homering six times in 2023, Quero is now up to 11 home runs on the season and an .813 OPS in 58 AA games.
Colson Montgomery – MLB Pipeline White Sox #1
Colson Montgomery didn’t have the best offensive week, but all three of his hits went for extra bases (double, two home runs).
Peyton Pallette – MLB Pipeline White Sox #12
After three strong starts in a row, Peyton Pallette endured a clunker and was chased in the first after ineffectiveness and hitting his pitch limit. He’ll look to get back on track this week against Asheville.
Bryan Ramos – MLB Pipeline White Sox #5
Last week was a struggle offensively for Bryan Ramos, as he could only connect for two his across five games.
George Wolkow – MLB Pipeline White Sox #14
18-year-old George Wolkow scuffled last week against Delmarva, striking out 10 times in 19 at-bats.
Nick Nastrini – MLB Pipeline White Sox #8
After getting optioned by the White Sox, 24-year-old Nick Nastrini had a tough outing against the Durham Bulls. Wildness plagued Nastrini in the first, where he issued three walks, a wild pitch, and three runs eventually scored. A two run homer in the fourth capped off the runs allowed against Nastrini. On a brighter note, he did manage to strikeout five of six batters in both the scoreless second and third innings.

Thanks for the weekly updates. Looking at it the Sox really have no help coming offensively from the minors this year and next year. Montgomery is not progressing; Ramos needs more time. Double A guys might get a look later next year. Besides the pitching our system is mediocre at best.
