Michael Turner
Michael Turner ended his AFL season doing Michael Turner things. The 26-year-old catcher walked twice while not striking out, reaching base three times in his last two games. In total, Turner appeared in 13 games for the Desert Dogs hitting .359/.447/.487 for a .934 OPS with seven runs scored, two doubles, one home run, 12 RBI, with seven walks and five strikeouts across 39 at-bats. Of the White Sox offensive farmhands participating in the AFL, Turner arguably had the second best offensive output, trailing only Colson Montgomery.
DJ Gladney
Similarly to Turner, DJ Gladney appeared in two of the final three games for Glendale last week, securing both of his hits in the same game. The 23-year-old Gladney had a tough run in the AFL, finishing his campaign with a .196/.250/.250 slash line in 17 games, .500 OPS, one home run, three RBI, one stolen base (one attempt), and had four walks to 19 strikeouts in 56 at-bats.
Grant Taylor – MLB Pipeline White Sox #6
Grant Taylor didn’t appear in any of the final three games for the Desert Dogs, but was able to pick up some valuable innings after missing most of the season due to a lat injury. In total, the 22-year-old made four appearances (not including the Fall Stars game) throwing seven and two thirds innings allowing 15 hits, 12 runs (eight earned), seven walks, and 13 strikeouts.
Andrew Dalquist
While Andrew Dalquist had a rocky beginning to the AFL season, he sure ended strong. Dalquist strung together four straight scoreless appearances, and over the last month the recently turned 24-year-old (happy belated birthday!) made six appearances throwing eight innings, allowed six hits, two runs (two earned), three walks, and nine strikeouts. For the full AFL slate, Dalquist made nine appearances working 11 innings, allowed 13 hits, nine runs (nine earned), seven walks, and 10 strikeouts.
Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa
24-year-old Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa had a gem of a final outing for the Desert Dogs. A multi-inning scoreless appearance capped off what was a solid body of work in the AFL. Hoopii-Tuionetoa made eight appearances throwing nine and one third total innings, allowing 10 hits, six runs (six earned), three walks, and struck out nine.
