White Sox Minor League Recap 5/3/2016: Hayes perfect at the plate

Columbus 8, Charlotte 3
Starter Chris Volstad gave up eight runs (six earned) over five innings on Tuesday as the Knights dropped the game to the Columbus Clippers. The Charlotte bullpen was a bright spot, as Will Lamb threw two perfect innings of relief and was followed by two more shutout innings by Brad Goldberg. Goldberg has a real shot at contributing to the major league team this summer, as the 6’4” righty enjoyed a breakout last season and features an upper 90’s fastball with a hard slider.
The Knights offense just managed five hits and they all came from two hitters. Danny Hayes went 3-3 with a homer, a double, and a walk and he is absolutely on fire. The lefty first baseman is batting an even .500 over his last ten games including three home runs, fourteen runs batted in, and six walks. J.B. Shuck added two singles to raise his average to .263 in Charlotte.
The Knights send Miguel Gonzalez to the hill for some morning baseball with the first pitch scheduled at 10:05.
Myrtle Beach 5, Winston-Salem 2
Spencer Adams twirled five innings and allowed two runs but a leaky bullpen behind him conceded the game. Adams struck out four, walked one, and gave up six hits on the evening. The Dash offense was limited to four hits, but outfielder Hunter Jones terrorized the Myrtle Beach Pelicans by going 2-3 with a homer, a triple, and a walk.
Winston-Salem will try to avoid the sweep by sending recently demoted Brandon Brennan to the bump.
