White Sox Minor League Recap 5/18/2016: Anderson stays hot

Rochester 7, Charlotte 6
Charlotte fell in extra innings after chipping away at a three run deficit entering the seventh inning. Tim Anderson certainly did his part as he continued going nuts with the bat, going 2-5 with a triple. Travis Ishikawa was 2-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Jason Bourgeois, recently acquired from the Diamondbacks for cash, was 3-4 with two runs scored and a double. J.B. Shuck, Matt Davidson, and Leury Garcia also had RBIs.
On the pitching side, Jacob Turner didn’t make a strong case for the fifth starter role as he gave up five earned runs in six innings on six hits, a walk and only four strikeouts. He did allow two homers. Scott Carroll allowed one run on three hits in 2.2 innings and Brad Goldberg took the loss in extras.
Birmingham 5, Tennessee 0
Despite only getting six hits, the Barons were able to win the Crosstown Classic’s AA match. Eddy Alvarez was hitless but still notched an RBI, Nicky Delmonico continues to rake after going 2-4 with a solo shot, Jeremy Dowdy went 0-2 with two walks and Nick Basto went 1-4 with two runs scored and a double as he adjusts to AA.
Blair Walters got the win after pitching eight shutout innings with six hits, two walks and three strikeouts and Nolan Sanburn pitched a scoreless ninth to bring it home.
Winston-Salem 9, Myrtle Beach 5
Racking up an impressive 14 hits, the Dash took a comfortable lead in the second inning after going down 4-0 and never looked back. Gerson Montilla led the way with four RBIs going 2-5 and Hunter Jones scored three runs after going 3 for five. Adam Engel showed positive signs, going 2-4 with a walk, after his demotion to A+ ball as he now sports a .412 batting average in his quest to return to Birmingham.
Thaddius Lowry had a rough start, giving up five earned runs in five innings on 11 hits with only 4 strikeouts to his name, but he still got the win. Connor Walsh got the two inning save, only allowing one hit.
Myrtle Beach 2, Winston-Salem 0
After putting on a show in game one, the Dash only managed four singles in game two behind poor Andre Wheeler, who only allowed one run in his three innings of work. Danny Dopico threw two innings of one hit ball and Jacob Morris threw a perfect seventh inning.
Greensboro 2, Kannapolis 1
Cody Daily had the only RBI for the Intimidators despite going 0-3. Tyler Sullivan, Johan Cruz and Landon Lassiter each had two hits apiece, with the former two each having a double. Corey Zangari took home a golden sombrero en route to going 0-4.
