Recap 7/20/16: Affiliates fall as Guerrero, Loe have rough outings

The affiliates were swept as Great Falls, Winston-Salem, and the AZL White Sox all had scheduled off-days. Jordan Guerrero had a rough outing for Birmingham, while Alex Call had a solid game with Low-A Kanny to leave an early mark since his promotion.
 Scranton/Wilkes-barre 14, Charlotte 2
The Knights got routed in a lopsided contest in Charlotte. Kameron Loe gave up five runs on six hits over 5.1 innings. The bullpen would follow suit, with Will Lamb serving as the only reliever to not surrender a run. He went an inning, giving up two hits but notching a strikeout. The offense was just as listless. However, there were a few positives to take home. Carlos Sanchez hit a home run, collecting 2 RBIs, while Kevan Smith added a double. Recently promoted Adam Engel tallied his first two bagger in an otherwise forgettable game.
Chris Volstad will try to bounce back from a rough outing when he takes the mound for Charlotte.
 Montgomery 13, Birmingham 2
Just like their fellow affiliate, the Barons were also stomped by their opponent. Jordan Guerrero struggled through four innings, allowing seven runs and walking five against just three strikeouts. Zack Burdi followed with a mixed night. He went two innings with three strikeouts to just one walk, but gave up two runs on two hits in the process. Brandon Brennan allowed four runs in his only frame, while Nolan Sanburn righted the ship with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts. The offense was held to a mere two hits on the night, with Joey DeMichele’s home run providing the only Baron runs.
Scheduled starter Blair Walters looks to help the Barons rebound tonight.
 Lakewood 2, Kannapolis 1
Brannon Easterling just missed a quality start for Kannapolis. He lasted 5.2 innings, as he surrendered two runs, walked two and struck out four. Ian Hamilton pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Alex Call was the story on offense. He went 2-for-3 with a stolen base, making an early impression since being promoted from Rookie Ball to Low-A Kanny. Grant Massey provided the sole run for the club with an RBI single.
Max Beatty takes the mound for the Intimidators tonight.
