The Naples Daily News is reporting that 2010 White Sox first round draft pick Chris Sale has been promoted to AAA Charlotte. This was the original plan, according to Baseball America. Sale made four relief appearances with the Winston-Salem Dash.
The Knights are on all-star break, with the AAA All-Star Game tomorrow. This will give Sale a couple days to settle in, though the Dash and Knights aren’t very far from each other.
Sale had a 2.25 ERA in his four innings of work. He struck out four, walked two and allowed three hits. His two runs (one earned) and three hits all came last night.
The interesting part will be how quickly he gets another promotion and joins the White Sox for the stretch run. The odds on pick would be for him to be a September call-up, but his play in Charlotte may not even dictate that decision. If nothing else, it gives us an interesting story line in what has otherwise been a downer of a minor league season for the Sox.
